Don’t be a hater.
The young people of today are misanthropes and defensive about it.

quote:Well you also seem to be ignoring the fact that the vast majority of places on DD don't have a stand-alone delivery service. If you want it delivered you have to go through an app. Unless your OP was about takeout only?
This might be the most honest post in the thread. I suspected this was the major issue. Most people just don’t like to admit it.

Hey, don’t bark at me. Take it up with nola tiger lsu. He’s the one who made the statement.

and it's retarded for several reasons you continue to ignore and/or create hypothetical scenarios to talk your way out of

quote:Is that a comprehensive list of what you've learned so far? You still don't understand the basic concepts of accuracy and efficiency of ordering online, as well as the reduced risk of a teenager stealing your credit card info?
What I’ve learned is that:
1) People are really sensitive about the topic for some reason.
2) Reinforced the notion that most posters are aggressive and/or defensive as frick (no surprise really)
3) The devil is in the details, probably. At first, I wasn’t even thinking about fast food delivery. And all this talk about lousy employees, being put on hold, loud environment, I have to say that if I experienced that a lot, I would see the benefit of on-line ordering. However, the employees in the places that I order food, usually for pick up, are quite nice to talk to.
The fact that you're still playing dumb (or maybe you're not playing) could be why people are acting like #1 and #2.

Yup he got at least 10 pages out of this dumb topic

It’s easy and gives a ton of options. Are you on the spectrum? How hard is it to understand….

I have found that typing these location instructions into an on-line ordering system is usually ineffective for various reasons. Maybe the driver simply doesn’t bother to read the ticket. Maybe the system isn’t designed to take extra or enough characters, etc.
The person answering the phone to take your order isn't the person driving your food to you, so talking on the phone changes nothing.
Also - Restaurants don't have their own delivery people so what are you even on about? You can't call a restaurant and verbally schedule a DoorDash delivery. Are you asking why people get delivery? Maybe they're drunk or high? Maybe they're sick? Maybe they're lazy?
quote:
I can honestly attest that I have seen many food deliveries just sitting in odd places, unclaimed, and untouched (mostly in business locations). Whatever the cause, I think that it’s more likely with the impersonal use of on-line ordering as opposed to good old-fashioned phone conversations with a human being.
Makes no sense. You cannot call a restaurant for a DoorDash order. They don't have a DoorDash person sitting by the phone for this.

Cut off the kids from the CC is the answer.
I had to cut off an E4 from his GTC after racking up $1500+ in food/delivery fees while TDY for 3 weeks. Dumbass thought Uncle Sam was gonna pay for all that food.

It's nice not having to scream my card number so everyone my apartment complex can hear me.

I’m 47 and I love the online experience for ordering food. The success rate of getting the order correct is much higher when done online versus calling it in.

I'm not a misanthrope, I just hate phone calls. I hate calling anyone ever, but don't really mind conversing with people (generally). Phone calls suck, especially when ordering food.
I suspect most people feel similarly.

More accurate orders?
Not only this, but also streamlines business for the restaurant where they dont need employees constantly taking orders over the phone when they are already under staffed

Translated: a stupid assed corporal on temporary duty travel was living the life paying 50% more for his food and thinking his rich Uncle was going to cover it.
