This thread is about processed American cheese, which is not the same as what you are talking about.

Millennials want not only healthier options but better tastier ones. That’s laudable. Plus if gives them something to be proud about when they feed their cats before they go to their barista gig.

I never ever considered Velveeta as cheese. It's some chemical conglomeration, but it never was cheese. And it's Gross.

It will come back full circle.
Every cheese has its place when used correctly, and American singles does as well.

I grew up on it.
It melts well.
It's the staple to your greasy waffle house hashbrowns and the glue to your grilled cheese and patty melts.
If you think you are above this staple of Americana then you are a douche.
I appreciate a good stilton or gruyere but sometimes on a rainy day with good friends and family, a cheese that could survive a world without proper refrigeration is tasty and comforting.

Good cheese is much better. But I'll still take the traditional American for grilled cheese anyday.

As far as the types of cheeses that you can find at big grocery chains (like Walmart) that Cabot Extra Sharp White Cheddar is one of the best cheeses on the shelf.

Obviously not as good as the "good cheeses" you find at a place like Whole Foods, but it's what I buy when I'm just making groceries.

No. No it won’t.

And while you may find good uses for singles, it isn’t cheese.

And it isn’t douchey to know that there are a multitude of real cheeses that work as well if not better than a cheese product.

I can sorta agree with your point if it’s the individual wrapped slices.

But a brick of Velveeta is fantastic cheese. I keep mine in a special Velveeta container from the Pampered Chef and have one of those cheese slicers with a wire to cut it as needed.

Even though I have the custom Velveeta container, I still keep it wrapped in the foil it comes in to preserve the natural freshness.

I get fresh sliced American Cheese from the deli section and it is really good.. now the kraft single fake cheese is terrible.

If you need american cheese, this is the way to go. This stuff is at least passable to some degree. The singles are complete garbage.

I also hate nacho cheese. That shite is gross to me.

However, on the subject of American cheese. It IS cheese. It's simply processed cheese. IF you must have it here is a recipe for homemade American cheese that is far better than anything you can buy at a store. I make it occasionally because the kids love it on their grilled cheese.

True. Baby Boomers are the most boring, culturally homogeneous, "tell me what to do" people to have ever lived.

Ballpark Nacho cheese is an abomination and deserves to die. American cheese is tolerable only on a grilled cheese or to be used to sneak medicine to dogs.

Other than that, I want real cheese, not fake shite

frick all the communists itt.

Bologna, white bread, American cheese and mustard is a fan-fricking-tastic sandwich.

American cheese is a requirement for grilled cheeses served with tomato soup. It has the perfect viscosity and meltiness factor.

Without American cheese, we are basically China.
