Wife's 2019 Cadillac XT5 (40,000 miles) has been in the shop on 2 separate occasions for a total of 16 days due to check engine light. It has been 2 weeks since last repair. Now the check engine light is on again. I want to get rid of this car due to the infamous check engine light. What is the OT's opinion of mid size SUV's like an Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and the Genesis?

Acura, lexus, infiniti, genesis are the only brands I would look at. I don't like to get bled on auto repairs.

Those codes are preset for 40k miles for peeps that no nothing about codes so they will trade them in for a new vehicle. Cycle of life.

Don’t get an Audi. Great at first but they go down hill fast and expect a $3,000 repair bill for every fix

Lincoln Aviator - Black Label.

Wife has one and loves it. No issues with it either. Fast, luxury interior. Great sound from the factory.

They’re all significantly less reliable than Toyota/Lexus.

Wife has a Wagoneer (not Grand Wagoneer) that to be honest is the most comfortable car we have ever owned. We got it for the kids, payload, towing ability.
When we think that we won’t need the capacity with kids getting older, I’ll use my truck for the towing/payload. When that happens, she will want to downsize and it will be a Toyota/Lexus.

Would love to get more input on this from people who have experience with them, im looking at an XC90 myself.. all i know from being a kid growing up in the 80s is that Volvos are “boxy, but theyre safe.”
