No Inspection Stickers

Posted by Punchout on 1/7/25 at 11:13 am
I have been noticing that many cars I see don't have inspection stickers. This includes all types of vehicles, new high end cars and trucks and even old junkers. Do police no longer enforce this?

Mid size SUVs

Posted by Punchout on 11/12/23 at 12:59 pm
Wife's 2019 Cadillac XT5 (40,000 miles) has been in the shop on 2 separate occasions for a total of 16 days due to check engine light. It has been 2 weeks since last repair. Now the check engine light is on again. I want to get rid of this car due to the infamous check engine light. What is the OT's opinion of mid size SUV's like an Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and the Genesis?

Problem greens at Okaying

Posted by Punchout on 2/20/23 at 7:40 am
Does anyone know what is going on with some of the greens at Oakwing?
The practice green and holes 1, 2, 3 particularly. Nothing but sand around the edges and some of the high spots. It's as if they are caving in. Haven't noticed any effort in repairing this.
Don’t do it. Worst experience I’ve ever had with insurance. I had 5 cars and 2 homes insured with them for several years without any claims. Had some water damage from a hurricane and it took an act of congress to get an adjuster out to look at damage. After several weeks of waiting they didn’t want to pay for anything. Their business plan is to make things as difficult as possible until you give up.

located in the central Louisiana area.

I think Varroa mites are getting me. From here on out I'll be catching wild swarms which have a resistance to mites. Also from what I have read the top bar bar method is more hands off.

Beekeeping retooling

Posted by Punchout on 1/12/23 at 9:21 am
Been beekeeping for a couple of years without much success due to losing bees.

I will be trying the top bar method and need to get rid of my Langstrom bee boxes. Does anyone have a good suggestion as to where I might be able to sale this equipment.

Best places to stay in San Antonio

Posted by Punchout on 1/5/23 at 10:16 am
Going to the San Antonio rodeo in February. What are some of the best places to stay near all the rodeo events.
My wife ( God bless her ) has been battling the creeping crud for a month. Coughing, congestion and generally just feeling like crap. We're hosting my side of the family this year. She is wondering how everything is going to get done since she feels bad and doesn't feel like doing anything. I told her "don't worry baby everything will get done just like every year." She says "what do you mean by that." I told her I do the cooking, cleaning outside and inside and anything else that may need doing and all she does is point and put fancy place mats on the table that no one uses. Needless to say that went over like a fart in church. Oh by the way, she's taking a nap now.

Looking for a good rechargeable LED flashlight. Not too big. Any suggestions?

Dove weed help

Posted by Punchout on 8/31/22 at 3:47 pm
I have a terrible infestation of doveweed in my lawn. I have bermuda in the backyard and St. Augustine in the front. I have been using msm turf to battle the Virginia Buttonweed but it doesn’t do anything to the doveweed.

Don't know how you can say the greens are in great shape. Greens 1, 2 and 3 have about 10 sq. ft. of area where you can place a pin position. (Due to crappy patch job). Several greens have severe sandy wash outs around the edges and all greens are covered with poa. I can't imagine any Oakwing member paying extra to play in the Lion's Club tournament.

They have trimmed trees along the bayou and around some of the greens. That is the extent of the work. Course is holding water in a lot of places, greens are jacked up with poa annua, tee boxes are shite, I've already referenced the fairways and no one gives a frick.
Oh yea I almost forgot, they put 2 rocking chairs on the driving range though.

Oakwing's fairways have always been sparse, however since new management has taken over ( Elite Golf ) the fairways are mostly dead and dusty. I don't recommend playing there. The newest goat ranch in Louisiana.

New management at Oakwing And yes they still don’t give a frick. Doing things like clearing around the bayou but ignoring the golf issues like shitty greens and bunkers. Putting lipstick on a pig.

Robbie G won’t be there long. He will eventually tell new management to go f-ck themselves.

Roughness on 14 & 15 in my opinion is because that area of the course was previously all concrete or part of the tarmac when it was an air base. Some of the money should now go to repair 1,2 & 3 greens.

I heard that 1.5 million was allocated by the England Authority for course improvements, however the money was to be held until new management took over.
Well of course you shouldn’t say high yella. The correct nomenclature is high “ yeller “.

Oakwing - new management

Well it finally happened. Elite Golf out of Las Vegas will assume management of the golf course starting Nov. 1. Supposedly they specialize in golf course turnarounds.
They will be walking into one hell of a turnaround. I wish them all the luck in the world but they definitely will have their hands full.
No word yet on who or if any of the current management will be retained.
