Sell this POS. These spend a ton of time in the shop. My friend has one.
Look into Lexus, Toyota or Honda. In this day and time, dependability is major.

With that many problems, why would you get anything but a Toyota?

I’m about to put a 2” lift and some mild AT tires on my old Honda Odyssey. Yes, it’s a thing. Instant full size SUV…

Trade that garbage in for a Highlander. It'll be the best decision of your life.

Just bought my wife a new 2023 Honda Passport Elite. So far, so good. Drives nice, handles well with decent engine. We’ll see.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been a champ.

I saw a small Lamborghini SUV Coupe today. It caught my eye because it was bright orange. If not for that, I would have had no clue it was a Lamborghini vehicle.

So consider it on your list...

Bought the wife a '23 Acura MDX in December and she loves it. The look, the comfort, the dependability, the ride... it has it all.

all i know from being a kid growing up in the 80s is that Volvos are “boxy, but theyre safe.”

Volvo is owned by China, Inc. now. I would not purchase anything owned by China, Inc. unless absolutely necessary.

Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus are your best bets.

Also be aware that the Honda V6 engines use a timing belt that -must- be replaced every 7 years or 100K miles (or so). Toyota V6 engines use a timing chain that does not need to be replaced.

Just replaced one on my Accord at 7 years and it's a $1500 repair at my independent mechanic. I'm tired of paying for that when they could switch to a chain so my next vehicle will most likely be a Lexus.

These threads start often.

Lexus GX460 is the ticket.

Wonderful vehicle. I prefer the RX in traffic.

German - keep it until the warranty runs out, and not 0.01 mile longer. I shared this mantra with a co-worker who had an Audi Q8 two years ago. His warranty ran out this year, right after a $10k AC repair. Took it back in for regularly scheduled maintenance - SURPRISE - needed another $9k in work out of warranty.

He drove down to the next dealership down the road and traded it on a Jeep Wagoneer, which is actually shockingly nice for a Jeep product. Nicer interior than the Audi for sure. He will be trading that one off before the warranty runs out too, though!

FYI, Jeep over-produced on their big SUVs after the supply chain issues got fixed, now they have too many and are cutting great deals with incentives.

As for Genesis, it is very nice, but Hyundai has a reputation for disposable engines that may or may not have been solved for the Genesis lineup.

What is the OT's opinion of mid size SUV's like an Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and the Genesis?

My wife had a 2017 Q5 and now has a new Q5e. Both cars were great and the 2017 gave us no issues but we sold it when the warranty expired. Likely will do the same thing with the new one since repairs start to get really pricey.

My 2019 A5 had the MMI unit replaced twice under warranty and the out of pocket cost would have been $5k.

The german ones will need a quart of oil between changes after about 15000 miles but other than that they are very reliable.

I’ve owned both Lexus gx and Volvo xc90. Go with the Lexus.

Are they really comparable though price wise?

If new...yes. If used...Lexus and Acura tend to be better maintained than their Toyota/Honda counterparts.

Interesting, thanks.. i actually have a Grand Cherokee that just hit 100k mi.. are there any things i should be aware of that should be done at that time, besides paying the dealer thousands of dollars for the 100k tune up or whatever ?
