I’m looking to buy a mid sized SUV. I was going to buy a couple years used, but I’ve put it off for over a year and now it’s a better deal to buy new. Plus I can choose my options.

I had been sure I was going to get a Mazda CX-9, but after renting a Chevy Traverse for work ( replacing a fleet vehicle in the shop), I’m having 2nd thoughts.

The AWD Traverse is awesome to drive. More space and fast; also both the 2nd and 3rd row seats fold into the floor, so I was able to fit a ladder and all kinds of stuff in there.

I haven’t driven the Cx-9 but have heard it is fast and handles well. I know the Kia Telluride is popular, but it seems like a wife car.

I’m sure some of you will say all midsized SUVs are wife cars.

Anyone have experience with these?

TIA

The Telluride looks way better than the Traverse and the CX-9

It’s not small. It’s not that much smaller than a Tahoe, but drives much better.

None of the vehicles mentioned are fast.

I'd never consider anything mentioned for myself, are you sure you are not shopping for your wife?

A buddy has a CX-9. That's a pretty cool vehicle. Fast as shite too.

Traverse is like a mix of a Tahoe and a minivan. CX-9 is sportier and the back seat is just pretending.

Telluride is like a station wagon that sits higher off the ground.

This is your description of the outside of the vehicle only, obviously.

Don’t know how long you plan to keep the car but the Telluride has had one of the highest resell values for a SUV on the market even before Covid messed with the markets.

Be very careful buying a 2021 cx9 with the turbo 2.5. There is a TSB out for certain vin# burning a good bit of oil.
