If you bipolar or potentially schizophrenic, don’t do it. Had a relative go do a heroic dose and now is just crazy. There’s information out there about the interactions.

What would be a good starting macrodose?

Just depends on how deep you want to go and what mushroom you are using.

Maybe 2 grams of dried golden teacher would be a good starting macro dose. Do it in a controlled environment. Your mental state will be altered and senses will be different. Mild environmental breathing/rippling with vivid closed-eye visuals. Altered perception of sound, as well as moderate time perception changes. It may mentally take you to some difficult or great places, but the dosage won't be enough to cause a spiral. It's light enough of a dose that you can easily redirect with different music or settings.

3+ grams is when you start to get into the truly weird realm of things. In my younger years I definitely took some heroic doses over 5 grams and lost all sense of time and ego. It's probably best you avoid that on your first go-round.

And? How do you feel?

It has both short and long-term effects. In the very short term, it's like a multi-tasking cheat code. Pair it with a stout coffee and you're off to the races on productivity. Long-term, it has really settled some of my anxiety. It didn't numb my anxiety, and truthfully it made it worse in the short term, but after a couple of weeks it starts to help you see what you're anxious about and how to tackle those issues. It's not a magic bullet. It takes some effort on your side of things, but if you're open to it and want to put in the work, it can help some people.

Not to get all hippy dippy, but when you compare it to modern medications, mushrooms have the power to actually re-wire your brain as opposed to medications that just mask a symptom.

It's not without risks. A) It's still illegal in most places, B) I've seen some studies on theoretical heart valve damage, and C) Everyone is different and some can have bad mental outcomes from it.

As for procurement, eh, I'm not sure how much admin will allow me to get away with. Spores can legally be purchased online for research purposes. Grow kits are plentiful and are legal. Mixing the two in a dark closet for 6-8 weeks are when it becomes illegal. Do with that information what you will.

For microdosing, a small jeweler scale that can do milligrams is a must.

What absolutely pisses me off is that 95% of people will have to go to the black market for it. Most people don’t have $5,000 to spend on a retreat center in Oregon.

The biggest health risk associated with consuming psilocybin is not even of the mushroom itself but the possibility of not getting the real thing and consuming a toxic mushroom.

I feel like this threads pop up weekly, and are a microcosm (ha!) of hopefully shifting attitudes towards psychedelics in the us (thanks Trump?!?).

I micro dose on Mondays, wednesdays, and Friday’s. .2-.4 g.

I don’t “feel” anything, but I think it shifts my mood and ego slightly. I’ve been doing it for over two years.

I also take heroic doses 4x per year, generally by myself on the beach, with a notebook and music.

I think psychedelics are healthy, and if used by more people, the world would be a better place. They’re ego killers if used properly imo.
