If you bipolar or potentially schizophrenic, don’t do it. Had a relative go do a heroic dose and now is just crazy. There’s information out there about the interactions.

What would be a good starting macrodose?

Just depends on how deep you want to go and what mushroom you are using.

Maybe 2 grams of dried golden teacher would be a good starting macro dose. Do it in a controlled environment. Your mental state will be altered and senses will be different. Mild environmental breathing/rippling with vivid closed-eye visuals. Altered perception of sound, as well as moderate time perception changes. It may mentally take you to some difficult or great places, but the dosage won't be enough to cause a spiral. It's light enough of a dose that you can easily redirect with different music or settings.

3+ grams is when you start to get into the truly weird realm of things. In my younger years I definitely took some heroic doses over 5 grams and lost all sense of time and ego. It's probably best you avoid that on your first go-round.

And? How do you feel?

It has both short and long-term effects. In the very short term, it's like a multi-tasking cheat code. Pair it with a stout coffee and you're off to the races on productivity. Long-term, it has really settled some of my anxiety. It didn't numb my anxiety, and truthfully it made it worse in the short term, but after a couple of weeks it starts to help you see what you're anxious about and how to tackle those issues. It's not a magic bullet. It takes some effort on your side of things, but if you're open to it and want to put in the work, it can help some people.

Not to get all hippy dippy, but when you compare it to modern medications, mushrooms have the power to actually re-wire your brain as opposed to medications that just mask a symptom.

It's not without risks. A) It's still illegal in most places, B) I've seen some studies on theoretical heart valve damage, and C) Everyone is different and some can have bad mental outcomes from it.

As for procurement, eh, I'm not sure how much admin will allow me to get away with. Spores can legally be purchased online for research purposes. Grow kits are plentiful and are legal. Mixing the two in a dark closet for 6-8 weeks are when it becomes illegal. Do with that information what you will.

For microdosing, a small jeweler scale that can do milligrams is a must.

What absolutely pisses me off is that 95% of people will have to go to the black market for it. Most people don’t have $5,000 to spend on a retreat center in Oregon.

The biggest health risk associated with consuming psilocybin is not even of the mushroom itself but the possibility of not getting the real thing and consuming a toxic mushroom.

I feel like this threads pop up weekly, and are a microcosm (ha!) of hopefully shifting attitudes towards psychedelics in the us (thanks Trump?!?).

I micro dose on Mondays, wednesdays, and Friday’s. .2-.4 g.

I don’t “feel” anything, but I think it shifts my mood and ego slightly. I’ve been doing it for over two years.

I also take heroic doses 4x per year, generally by myself on the beach, with a notebook and music.

I think psychedelics are healthy, and if used by more people, the world would be a better place. They’re ego killers if used properly imo.

Had a period of time where I could pick a sack full, clean them gently, boil them down to a concentrate, and add sugar and fresh lemon and lime juice, mix with rum and then me and my friends would laugh our asses off for an entire 24 hour period.

Wouldn't do it now, but super interested in how micro dosing has helped a ton of people with memory issues.

I read a study recently where they gave an insane amount to a woman that was pretty much catatonic from alzheimers.

After sweating and shaking for a while, she "woke" up and was normal for some period of time before the symptoms showed back up.

They’re not for everyone and probably should be illegal, but if done right. Will completely change you for the better. To me a micro dose is for fun. To really open the doors you need round 5g regularly. I did a Sunday session Every week for 2 years and. Went through many ego deaths. Probably the most beneficial thing I have ever done.

I don't see how micro dosing helps with anything but maybe taking the edge off.

Most instances of people getting help with depression or over traumatic experiences is with hero doses in a control environment with experts.

Don't do that shite at home alone.

Also, don't just go willy nilly buying that shite from anywhere. Can't stand when people say oh man I did some good shrroms yadda yadda and they got them from the gas station. Same with edibles

You need some gin and tonic in your life.

I prefer gin and juice. Preferably whilst rolling down the street and possibly smoking indo. It makes me feel relaxed. Laid back, if you will. During these times I usually contemplate my finances.

Keep seeing mention of ego death.

Care to explain more on that?
Is that just losing your sense of self importance and feeling more connected or something?

pretty much

the experience of realizing that everything is connected, and you are part of something much bigger and much more powerful than your individual self. Very much the same as the mushroom itself…an interconnected web sharing information and supporting the whole

it’s something you cannot go backwards from and will change your entire way of being

Really curious to hear the OT’s thoughts on mushrooms (Psilocybin).

I have been really considering dipping my toe into it. Been a bit wary of what to expect as for the experience. I have read on a few forums that microdosing can be a game changer for some as well.

I do struggle with depression & anxiety from time to time, and I have been curious if a good sized dose would help me get some perspective and then maybe try microdosing from there if the benefits are worth it.

Would appreciate any input TIA.

Same. Feel like anxiety and hang ups keep me from opportunities. Just need something to get me out of my own head.
