Who all has had implicit bias, sterotypes, microinsults, microaggressions, and title IX training? Cause I'm at an engineering symposium in lod cook today and have been dealing with snowflakes and trigger warnings all morning. They scheduled an hour for us to learn about all this

At one point they had us write a microaggression that we gave or someone gave us. Here's the board

Some gems

I'm so triggered right now

I'd rather drag my balls across broken glass then dip them in a bowl of salty lemon juice than go to that training.

You had an opportunity for a nice, long lunch. Yet you went to the training? Voluntarily?

Pedro Derosa

He's a prof at Tech. I wasn't in engineering but I had to deal with him in a different capacity. Dude was a dick. One of those that got ticked off if you didn't say his last name with an accent. Obviously I refused.

Wow... I graduated in 2012 and its amazing to see how far college classes have fallen in such a short period of time.

Seems like a class you'd teach a bunch of 5 year olds.

The pussification of America is pathetic, these "adults" need to grow up and learn to not be offended by every other word in the dictionary.

To be honest, I would be pretty triggered if someone rubbed my head without asking

That's because engineers are awkward as frick. Double that for foreigners who are also engineers.

Completely agree. I was amazed this many people posted "microaggressions" on the wall. Half of them are not even bad, some ask if people are moving home after they graduate. How is that wrong??

Foreigners, especially non-white ones, can't be racist or intolerant.

No one. It's yet another perpetuated myth.

What a bunch of stupid shite. My wife had to take a diversity training class a few years ago and she said it was an all day hate whitey affair.

Implicit bias is real, and people should be aware of how their own biases affect their interactions with others both positively (e.g., halo effect) and negatively (e.g., stereotyping). But that itself takes a level of self-awareness that most lack.

Unfortunately, ideas like implicit bias become emotional arguments for people who feel victimized, and who go beyond the rational and reasonable when trying to implement them.

wait, so moving home after graduation is a microaggression?

BTW I'm happy that spell check does not recognize the word microaggression
