Bonanza (1959 to 1973)

Little House on the praire (1974-1983)

Highway to Heaven (1984-1989)

He appeared on the cover of TV Guide 22 times. 2nd only to Lucille ball)

I had forgotten how young he was when he died in 1991 at age 54. No doubt he still had a couple of long running series left in him.

I’d go with Ted Danson. “Good Place”, “Cheers”,
“Becker”, one of those CBS CSI shows, etc.

It is harder to argue with this than I was expecting it to be. Drawing a blank on anyone that has had more long running shows than he has.

Kelsey Grammer had a hell of a run as Frazier Crane for about 2 decades over as many series.

Jimmy Smits started with L.A. Law, then on to NYPD Blue, then Sons of Anarchy, and is now a lawyer again on a show called Bluff City Law. That's pretty strong.

Also, Tom Selleck did Magnum PI, was on Friends, and is now doing Blue Bloods. That's pretty strong too.

He would be my favorite. But he only had two shows. Tom Selleck(Magnum and Blue Bloods) and James Garner(Rockford and Maverick) are a couple more.

Hard to come up with anyone else that had three.
