The Stand your Ground defense statute states that one has a right deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony.
That’s basic self-defense law, not Stand Your Ground.
And the word “imminent” carries a lot of weight that you seem to easily dismiss in this case.

The law has had the unattended consequence of these dumbasses thinking they are justified in shooting anybody because they “stood their ground”.
It's a good law that's a deterrent as it focuses on dumbasses like the black guy who think it's a good idea to start a fight willy nilly unprovoked and then expect to hide behind the victim having to run away according to the old law.

You should do everything in your power to defuse the situation.
Why should that responsibility lie with the person who was attacked? He didn't start it.

I'm not dismissing it one iota. The word is imminent completely subjective in this situation and the thug that got shot had already commited a forcible felony.

Shooter is a piece of shite.
It’s funny that the only time race is mentioned in crime stories is when it’s white on black. Any other time, “police are looking for a man, average height wearing jeans and a shirt”

Why do you think someone is justified in ending a life because of a parking lot scuffle?

No, it’s not.

No, he didn’t

Well bless your heart. Don’t get mad. When you grow up, you’ll get smarter, better able to articulate your position, and maybe even have an intelligent discussion someday.

Um no. The person who violently attacked the other started the incident. Up until then it was an argument, a disagreement. At that point it became an assault.
Had the shooter not started screaming like a physco at some random chick over a frigging parking spot, he wouldn’t be facing manslaughter charges.

Was he backing off to pick up a club? Or maybe he was backing off to get his own weapon? Or maybe the person who just had the shite knocked out of him couldn't tell that he was backing off at all, because, you know... he just had the shite knocked out of him.
All of that is completely irrelevant.
Someone backing away from you is not an IMMEDIATE threat to you. You don’t get to shoot people just because of what you imagine they might do later on.
It’s freaking scary that some people don’t understand this.

The black guy didn't die because he parked in the wrong spot, he died because he committed a felony with a violent assault in shoving an old guy down to the ground.

And, if just, a jury will convict the shooter of manslaughter.

Again, asinine. And why do you insist on calling the shooter an "old guy"? He is 47 years old for God's sake.

Had the black guy not shoved an old guy with a gun on him (That he had no idea he had) violently to the ground when he was not attacking anyone, he would still be alive today.
See how that works?

He already committed a felony with an assault by violently shoving him down to the ground.
Push a cop down to the ground like the black guy did and see how that works out for you.

Nope. And irrelevant to the self defense argument.

It will be on the defense to play up the heat of the moment and put the jury in the shoes of the white guy and make them play out the exact same scenario as it happened in their minds.
I already said that I would acquit him considering that he was on a nonstop train of action in getting his gun out, cocking it, aiming it properly, and them immediately firing him and I doubt the black guy backing up even registered in his mind.
A conviction would be asking him to do two things at once and I just can't square that with logic and common sense.

True or false. None of this happens if your guy isn’t shouting at people over parking spaces.

He committed a felony? Shoving someone is a felony?
Just stop. And even if you’re ridiculous characterization were true, the “assault” was not occurring as the shooter pulls out and fires on the guy who is at that point retreating.

I have yet to hear any audio, maybe you have. Even so, he didn’t violently attack the woman. The shooter was essentially sucker shoved, with what appears to have been enough force to have seriously injured the shooter, if not worse.
The shooter may be the biggest a-hole in the county, but anyone who says that they would not fear for their lives in the 10 seconds that follows the violent attack simply isn’t being truthful.

So the black guy didn't violently shove the other guy down to the ground unprovoked when there was no physical attack taking place?

Nope.
