Look at the post right below yours for why it doesn’t matter. Dude could be on top of him wailing MMA style, and he would somehow still be in the wrong.

The attacker had already used deadly force. Yes, he could have paused a moment there before pulling the trigger, but hindsight, slow motion video, and unlimited replays are 20/20.

Exactly. It's so ridiculous nowadays. People can't just get in a dang ol fist fight without someone resorting to the easy way out.

The guy knocked the shooter to the ground, that is not the same thing as a fist fight on the playground. I am an old guy, I would not start a altercation and will walk away from one if possible, but if I am physically shoved or hit I consider that a threat to my life.

I have zero sympathy for the black guy who shoved the white guy to the ground.

He's a dumbass who started a fight when no one was physically attacking anyone with no way of knowing what kind of weapons the other guy has and how far he's willing to go to win a fight.

He decided to be a billy badass and paid the price for it with his life.

As for the manslaughter charge with the 4 seconds, I would acquit him based on the fact that from the moment he was shoved down to the ground, that's the same time it took him to get his gun out, cock it, properly aim it, and then immediately fire the gun. I highly doubt the black guy backing up even registered in his mind and going after him for that is asking an old guy to do two things at once.

Zero sympathy for dead guy, the shooter should be acquitted.

Nope.

When you start a fight completely on your own unprovoked, you assume and accept the responsibility of whatever happens to you in retaliation and self defense.

If the black guy had survived being shot, he would've been arrested for criminal assault and maybe battery as well.

This is such an asinine talking point and contrary to hundreds of years of legal developments. The fact that you continue to parrot it is embarrassing.

This guy didn't magically lose his rights to self defense because of sketchy and shady past behavior.

What loses self defense rights is up to a jury's interpretation of when the threat was over in this case and whether or not it was appropriate to shoot.

That's it.

I've seen guys run from cops, put their hands in their air, or behind their back and laying on the ground even after being tased all look like they were "no longer a threat" at one point only to turn and try to take a cops gun and use it against him. I'm sure the decision to consider a violent attacker "no longer a threat" is much easier when you are watching a video in the comfort of your home than when you are the one confronting that attacker just steps away.

The guy's defense lawyer should not have much trouble finding a video exactly like this situation which ends with the cop shooting the suspect a few seconds after it looks like the threat is gone, would go a long way with a jury.

No way a judge would allow something like that.

I don't think I've seen much coverage about this on social media and the 24 hour networks.

In fact, I don't think this one will get a whole lot of attention especially considering that we won't have a federal government there to fan the flames and race hustle like they did with Trayvon and Ferguson.

But new facts that we don't know about could change things and force more media attention.

Maybe, maybe not.

But it would be a very good argument for the defense to make.

Violently shove a cop down to the ground like the black guy did to the white guy and see how responses in this thread would be different.

Probably a whole lot of stupid games and stupid prizes like that.

Has been taken to the extreme. How many of these shootings would never occur if these dumbasses didn’t feel empowered and justified to kill someone over stupid shite?

Probably about the same amount of people that would still be alive today if they didn't pick a stupid fight when they have no way of knowing what weapons the other guy has and how far he's willing to go to win the fight.

Black guy in this story did just that and he won the stupid prize of six feet of dirt over him forever.

If you're going to carry a concealed weapon you also carry the responsibility of using it wisely.

This clearly wasn't self defense as the video shows.

If you carry a concealed weapon and you shoot and kill someone for pushing you down, you're going to go to prison for it.

It's crystal clear from the video that the guy had no intention of going any further than shoving the guy to the ground. He shoves the guy and immediately stops and makes no more aggressive moves towards the guy.

The gunman flopping to the ground like a dunk bitch makes it look worse than it was.

How many different times does it look like TWO cops had neutralized this threat?

The law has had the unattended consequence of these dumbasses thinking they are justified in shooting anybody because they “stood their ground”. That’s the problem with society. You should do everything in your power to defuse the situation. Killing someone should be the last resort. Or do we not try to hold the police to the same standards?

The Stand your Ground defense statute states that one has a right to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. Good luck proving to a jury that this guy had no reason to believe it wasn't reasonable to believe he might still be in danger.

Uh no it's not.

The black guy tucked his pants up and took a step towards the white guy. That's a ghetto thing and that usually means he's not done. That's where the white guy has a credible claim of self defense.

He only backed away when he saw the faint outline of a gun and by then, the white guy didn't stop his train of action until he fired his gun and those four seconds is what the trial will be about.
