I've seen this same story repeated year after year for well over 15 years.

I promise if you ever have to deal with the non-college spring breakers for a week you won’t be worried about race or sex, you’ll just want them gone and to never come back.

Was leaving Lowe’s at 1pm the last year they were down and had an Altima cut me off and almost cause an accident.

I threw my hands up and the guy in the backseat immediately started tapping a handgun on his window at the next light looking at me.

Never. Again.

People living in $30M homes don’t like trashy spring breakers coming in and messing with their neighborhoods. Even places like Daytona and PCB long ago decided it wasn’t worth the drama and have cracked down dramatically, particularly as property values increased. No one wants the problems that come with the college, HS and “non-college”spring breakers because it chases out family spring breakers with money, leads to massive property damage and requires massive overtime for police to ensure public safety.

Boomers are getting really old and awful and the same generation that did LSD en masse and smoked weed all over the public in protest of war now expects the kids to fall in line and go home and play board games.

It’s amazing how conservative Miami has become in the last 25 years. It’s a totally different city now from the one portrayed In Miami Vice back in the 80’s.

Mami's not conservative. They don't want the chaos, crime, violence, trashiness and bullshite that comes with the 2020's version of spring break.

I live right on Miami Beach... good. It's already bad enough. They are going to charge $100 for parking.

Full disclosure: I’m not a boomer, I’m a millennial.

But when the boomers were spring breaking in FL they were staying in beat up motels and old bungalows.

That’s all gone. Now pretty much anywhere coastal in FL is a multi-million dollar property.

A cheap lot with a water view in PCB sells for well over $1M.

Houses in 30A are selling for $10-15M.

If you want to rent your $15M house to college kids or even worse the non-college types who were driving around shooting AKs and guns down front beach road a couple years ago that’s your prerogative but i don’t want them anywhere near my properties.

It’s a bad business proposition because they cause so much damage it impacts your ability to rent to other guests until the property is fixed and now you have to pursue damages legally with all the headaches that go along with that while it chases out all the good families who just want to come down and enjoy the beach.

I feel bad they don’t get to have MTV era spring break experiences but the bad ones have ruined it for everyone else and I can give you 15 examples of violence and destruction that have followed those events everywhere they’ve gone.

I’m Gen X. My spring breaks were in the late 80s. We went to PCB and stayed one year at the Barney Gray and Sandpiper Beacon the next. Lots of beer, weed, and titties on the beach and at Club La Vela. We got a little rowdy and had fun. But what goes on now is too much.

didn't they have a couple of shootings and the usual burnouts, drag races, etc in Miami Beach a few years ago? They kind of shite that people here bitch about happening on Siegen Lane. Not really hard to understand why spring breakers are getting the boot.

I know I am old now, but the biggest issues seem to be shootings and destruction of property.

Back in my day about 30 years ago, it was a big party and everybody was there to have fun. People actually looked out for one other a good bit. I am sure some property was destroyed but a lot of time on lookers would stop the person. Same with fights, nobody was ever shot.

I feel like this is the third year in a row that I’ve read this story. I think they effectively ended the spring break revelry two years ago. Good for them.

On a smaller level, Panama City has done the same thing. The wild days of that town are over. You can’t drink on the beach at all. It’s now truly just a tourist trap for middle income redneck families. At least it’s quiet though.

The spring break demographic was still largely college kids up until the 2010s, when it became an everybody go party event.

That is largely when it started to get out of hand.

It was drinking, drugs, sex, and fights among college students for the most part,

Miami started having shootings and a lot more violence as the non-student population proliferated.

Damn, even some old baw out with his wife and kids can’t crack open a beer? That’s pretty strict.
