It’s being developed by Karis Capital which is local PE and being constructed by Mortensen with the data company yet to be announced. If it were an expansion of the meta facility I don’t know why they wouldn’t say that
That's a different data center than Meta, yes. It's on a different piece of property, basically catty corner from Meta.
The current Meta data center they just finished is on 250 acres of a 500 acre plot. I know, because I was on that job. DeKalb approved all of that years ago.
They just announced approval for the one you're talking about over the summer. It's going to be on a smaller plot of land than Meta, by far, but it's going to be multi story and use more power then Meta even.
There's a bunch of data centers about to go up in that area that are completely separate from Meta. They're even going to put one right next to the nuclear power plant near Byron.

Now that a data center is proposed for Louisiana, closer to his home, he is now upset
My theory
Not upset. Didn't move to Illinois permanently.
I couldn't work for for the out poverty wages here in Louisiana. Hell, I've got great health insurance, and what the contractors pay here isn't enough to keep my coverage current.
I'm glad they're putting this data center there in Louisiana, and there's probably more coming. I'm simply being honest about how they'll find and house all those construction workers. It's going to be a major issue, on top of having a hard time getting traveling JWs to come take calls for those wages and in Louisiana's climate and weather.
But more power to them. I wish them all the luck. And I wish I didn't have to go out of state to make great money, but the income I can make elsewhere, along with the retirement packages, is staggering compared to here.

You make a lot more sense when you aren’t drunk posting

I wonder if they will try to utilize the river as some sort of cooling component
I know these data centers put off a ton of heat

Meta will be bought out in the next 5 years. It's like the last days of Myspace
Tell me you don't read the quarterly reports without telling me you don't read the quarterly reports.
The company took in $40.58 Billion in the last QUARTER, a 19% increase year over year, $15.6 Billion of which was profit, a 35% increase year over year. Thats in a THREE MONTH SPAN.
I know people love to just spout off on something they think they know but come on, you can't actually be that stupid as to think a company building a $10billion data center is going to be bought out in the next five years. Maybe do a quick google search next time.

Data centers in hurricane areas. Excellent.

Buddy has no idea what he's talking about. This will be a project that will cost more towards $20 billion as I previously reported weeks ago. Will be more than 8,000 construction jobs rather than the 5,000 reported. 350-500 permanent jobs. Meta will likely build man camps for the construction workers which will consist of apartment buildings, or trailer parks with meals provided etc. And no, it will not be a union job and main industrial contractors will be involved in this project. For someone with so much bark you sure don't seem to be involved with the actual execution of this project, just running off of pure speculation. But, have a fantastic day!

Richland Parish is like 250 miles off the coast and 75 feet above sea level

I mean, it's facebook data, so what matter if someone can't post their dinner choice for a couple of nights.

Thank you for sharing logic. Some people just get pissed when anything of substance comes Louisiana’s way, especially N. Louisiana

This thread got hijacked by a dude with an axe to grind who doesn't even live here.
Yes, Louisiana has lots of problems, is near the bottom of nearly every ranking in just about everything, and people are leaving every day. We know this.
So for those of us who call this place home, how do we improve it? The task is so daunting. If your contribution to the conversation is simply, "Louisiana is a shite hole, nothing good will ever happen," then please leave the conversation.
Improving this state is like eating an elephant. You have to do it one bite at a time. I would suggest that a massive AI data center is a pretty damn good first bite. If you are going to pooh pooh a Meta data center "because Louisiana" then you will pooh pooh absolutely anything.

Construct two Entergy-owned substations and six customer-owned substations
Install nearly 100 miles of 500kV transmission lines and eight new 230kV transmission lines
Upgrade existing infrastructure, including a substation near Sterlington
