If he really knew about mental health he wouldn’t use the f word and would call us people of size

But if someone had cancer you wouldn’t tell them to lose weight and if they lost weight it’d be bad. Why is it any different for people of size?

ETA: and when you lose weight you’re just showing off your genetics. People of size have tried everything to lose weight and still can’t because of their genetics

Nowhere in my BS in Psych or in my M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development did anyone teach losing weight at all times is "fatphobic". Ol' girl is pulling that one out of her arse.

I also question whether she has an active license. She lists herself on her Instagram as a "Recovery Coach & Weight Neutral Personal Trainer". She then lists the label of "QMHP" which is a VERY broad legal term for a "qualified mental health practitioner" but then she doesn't list her official licensure (like LPCC, LMFT, PsyD, etc.).

She sounds like a "life coach" who made some shite up.

Because the way to make yourself feel relevant in a psychology/psychiatry-based field today is to find something to crusade against. If you can make something a phobia, ist or ism then you can try to use your position as "a professional" to rally people to your cause.

This gives the impression that you're doing something when, in reality, you aren't doing a fricking thing. For the weak-minded, you come across as a sharp, caring and dedicated leader in your field (because you are fighting against "something" but not being "mean" by telling someone it's their own fault and to shape the frick up). For anyone who thinks beyond the surface level of it, you come across as a charlatan and a fool.

It's the psychological version of moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic.

That woman is an idiot. What an embarrassment for which ever organization employs her. She should not be counseling anyone, she is incompetent.

BTW, everyone should be fearful of being overweight. To say otherwise is to shun the science of how bad obesity is for a person. Party of science.

That's where our society had gotten. Despite what they might project, fat people don't like being fat. In fact, they hate it, and they hate they way they look/feel. Yet, eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle is much more difficult and less enjoyable than just eating as much of whatever the hell you want and living a completely sedentary lifestyle.

So rather than change their lifestyle to achieve the results they ideally want, they demand society change its norms to make them feel better about themselves. If a pill came out tomorrow that would magically make morbidly obese people thin in a week you would see all of these "healthy at any weight" and "I'm proud of my body" lard-asses lining up to get it....because despite what the media and marketing tries to convince you, they don't want to be fat!

So I had to look further into this chick, because I think she's full of shite.

I clicked on her Link Tree page and it has a place for a "Mental Health/Recovery Consultation" that sends you to a page for "Katie Bellamy LLC". The mental health license, per the Illinois board (she's in Chicago) has the license listed under Katie Bellamy and not this chick's name "Ashantis Jones". Ashantis Jones has a website link that lists herself as a Wellness Advocate. Not anything officially licensed.

So she's marketing that she's a therapist but she's not. Her link goes to another therapist for actual therapy sessions.

I've reported this to the Illinois board. Also reported the misrepresentation to Instagram (I don't have Tik Tok).

Link to Link Tree page for Ashantis Jones

ETA: The Katie Bellamy website claims Ashantis is a "Masters Level Counselor" but I can find no active info for her. If she's a student she's misrepresenting herself as a licensed therapist. She's not licensed yet.

You’re telling me they don’t teach body positivity and tell fat ppl it’s okay to be themselves? You’re absolutely lying. And yeah go to any psych department and see all the professors who teach adolescent psych with no kids, or that they themselves are fat, or they are completely crazy as well. Not saying you and you always get so butthurt over general comments thinking it’s directed towards you. Yes psych these days is a fricking mess. Your field encourages trans movement & hormones.
