I have 3 pair of Ariat boots, the most comfortable are the work hog H2O, have walked miles in those and no discomfort, not dressy at all. I got these Frye Wayde Engineers last year, the non-zip version, very comfortable once broken-in.

I bought some Dan Post a few weeks ago and love them.

I had a pair of Tony Lama boots that wore out after a year. I also have a pair of Justin boots that I've had for about 7 years that are still going strong.

I was in a resale shop in Santa Fe a couple days ago and passed on a pair of Lucchese's in my size for $810. They were either caiman, croc or gator and in excellent shape. Had barely been worn by the look of the soles, but I can't bring myself to drop that kind of dough on a pair of boots.

May have been a great deal, but that's just ridiculous for a pair of boots. Should have gotten a pic so I could determine what they were and what they're worth, but they looked something like this from what I can remember. Snipped toe, western heel in light brown.

BTW, I can't stand the broad square toe boots like this on dress boots. shite is ugly.

Don't care for roper heels either except on a few boots like this.

Snipped toe or regular square toe is the way to go.

Will end up either being my 2nd or 3rd pair that I buy.

Tecovas are on the list as well.

I ended up purchasing these in chocolate color:

Lucchese Colby is a subtle cowboy boot with modern touches. The snip toe and traditional silhouette provide a rustic backdrop to an unexpected, stonewashed denim upper. Available in black, buck and chocolate. Leather sole. Handmade in Texas.?

to all that helped!

I stand on my feet 10+ hours a day (minus 30 minute lunch), and just switched to my logging boots. My feet were moving too much in the slip-ons, which made the tip of my big toe go numb. No problems since the switch

I have a pair of Frye's, very comfortable but made like shite and didn't hold up. In under a year of occasional wear, the shank broke in one. Sent them in, Frye rebuilt them. Did a somewhat sloppy job on the sole. Wore them a few more times and the outside edge of both boots blew out/ separated from the sole. Very hesitant to pull the trigger on another pair of those.

Got new Chippewa recently. A little wide and a little short in the instep.

Gonna water soak them, wear them, and see if I can improve the fit. Quality seems good.

Take a boot that's loose in the wrong areas and tight in the others, soak them in water for a few hours, put them on, wear them around until they dry a bit.

Put them on a boot dryer until dry.

Then condition the shite out of them with mink oil.

They will be form fit to your feet. As long as they dry properly and you condition them after, doesn't affect them.

I bought a pair of boots similar to that for around $500 (can't remember the brand - possibly Justin) and they've held up better than my $500 Lucchese lizard skin boots that I bought at the same time. I love both pairs of boots, comfort level is the same, but the dye has worn off the tips of the Luccheses. And I wear those less than the Caiman boots.

I have these and they are by far my favorite pair of boots. They have held up well over the past 3 years. I need a new heel, and maybe a new sole.
