I sort of wanted to get back together, but not really. It was the “starting over” that I mourned more than her specifically. Being done with her BS was a relief in many ways.
I in my heart felt it was the best thing that was ever going to happy to me in the end. I was right, about 13 months after we broke up, I went on a date with my now wife. It ultimately was the best thing that happened to me.

We were very compatible in some ways, but super incompatible in some really important aspects of our relationship, and we were both using the relationship to get past other people. It wasn’t an ugly breakup, and we’re still sorta friends. It was just clear that we weren’t going to be falling in love with each other or getting married down the line.
I wouldn’t hate dating again, but I don’t see any point to it. We have fun, but we’re clearly not the best partners for one another.
