Here’s the thing. If I was picking based just on looks I’m picking wife. Bimbo is in slightly better playing shape but that’s because she’s in a contract year.

He’s a basketball buddy and I used this analogy:
Bimbo is like Gilbert arenas pre 100m contract. Half court shots and fade-aways.
Post contract she’ll go crazy and have guns in the locker room.

You can be a good dad even without their mother, you just have to make it the priority , not chasing arse.

My dad left us for another woman when I was 6 and my brother was 9. By all accounts he was a pretty good dad before he left; however, afterward he rarely saw us or wanted to anything to do with us, almost as if he was trying to run away from the reminder that he'd done a pretty terrible thing.

He got married to his mistress, and they ended up divorcing a few years later. He found himself another woman, who he later married and divorced as well. He's quite the arse chaser, and is constantly taking women on trips and things like that, but it's like he's trying to fill a hole in his life. Neither I nor my brother had a good relationship with him until fairly recently, and it's really just at arms length. It's much less a father-son dynamic and more of a distant friendship. He's led a pretty sad life from a personal relationships standpoint.

As he gets older (he's in his mid 60s now), the emotional chickens are coming home to roost for him, especially as my brother and I get married, have families, and enjoy things like family vacations and time together at holidays.

This breaks my heart. I will never understand how a parent can do this.

Leaving your wife is one thing and should be judged on a case by case basis.

Leaving your kids is abhorrent and should result in public flogging.

My children come first over my wife and myself.
They are my legacy when I'm gone.

My dad divorced my mom, but he's still an unbelievably great father to me and grandfather to my kid.

Both my parents are great.

They just weren't happy together and my mom wanted to work things out (I think for religious reasons) and my dad knew it would never happen. He made the tough call. They are both happier for it.

Although holidays in two houses is a bitch.

The Ex Mrs Lith left after the youngest Lithette graduated from High School. I didn't realize how miserable I was. I'm very happy now. Lived in the 225 while the 2 youngest went to LSU. Moved to NOLA after the youngest graduated from NOLA. Mrs Lith was not the person I married and I'm pretty much the same. Like Concerts, going to Football games, and out. Life is good

You leave out a most important detail? Is he seeing the kids 50/50?

My parents got divorced when I was a kid. They were miserable together. Mom and Dad were like oil and water. They only got married because mom got knocked up in the mid 70s while at LSU.

My dad cheated on my mom and had my brother when I was 7. They divorced. It messed me up, mainly by not having a positive masculine male influence around; I grew up basically a woman with a dick. I put women on a pedestal and thought my maleness was bad. My teens and early twenties were a hot mess

He wasn't a bad father he was there he paid for shite he coached my basketball team but he wasn't there. We are on decent terms now but he's drinking hi!self todeath

Man I was the exact opposite. I mostly grew up in a bachelor pad with no females. Me and my dad had a maid and ate out every meal. My wife says it has been hell trying to domesticate me.

Nope. Wife refuses to allow kids to spend much time with him because she doesn’t want them around bimbo. He doesn’t seem get that her reaction is pretty normal given what’s going on. He gets to go over to the house and hang with them and will take them to a few Pels games but he’s a busy guy as well so the time he spent with them before this was just evenings, weekends etc.

He’s not a bad person. Just blinded and in a early mid life crisis right now.

Now I really can't.

Divorce is one thing. You can get divorced and still be a great dad that is involved in your child's life, assuming your ex doesn't pull some shite in courts so you are barred from seeing your kid (s)

Plenty of evidence to suggest that, once the kids are old enough to not die easily, our ancestors split up, the mother going to find another man and make more babies and the father going to find another woman to make more babies. We were serial monogamists.

Not real healthy for the marriage, particularly after the kids are gone.
