I adapt to the emailing style of the client i am corresponding with. If that means beginning my email with "Hi Rebecca" or ending with a "Thanks!", then so be it.

I use ! all the time in text..
"You stupid cocksucker!!"
"Shut the frick up!"
If I am in a group text and we plan on going somewhere together I will say "Hell Yeah!"..
I was just going through my text to see if or when I use !

seriously? what are you so excited about?
i mean, this is an easy one. Many people use exclamations so that you don't misinterpret their text as them being in a bad mood.
if someone text me "hey. can't wait." I'd probably think they were being sarcastic and actually did not want to do whatever it is we are discussing.

Sounds like a Nigerian scam email.

I tend to end some emails with "Thanks!" or something like that, depending on context. I find I mostly use exclamation points when communicating with females as opposed to other guys.

This. When I send out an RFQ, I'll typically throw a "Thanks!" at the end. Generally don't use !s other wise except with women

Oh.. In business emails..
Yeah, that's different..
But one time some dude tried to call me out in a group email at work an I emailed him and told him to never call me out like that again. If he has a problem with something I did, to contact me one on one and we can work it out ahead of time. And we had several engages that had !!!

I only use exclamation points when I write to ladies.
"know your audience"
"know your audience"

I like people who use exclamation points. It makes me feel like they aren’t pissed at me.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves. The manager here always puts "HELP!!" in his emails asking simple questions to us or our vendors. It makes him (and the company) look like total goofballs.

I don't like it when a superior does it to the people under him in a group email like, "I'm going to need those collaboration reports by the end of the day!" Makes it seem like he's chewing your arse for something that you haven't even done wrong.

How else will they know I mean business!!

I replaced all my exclamation marks with smiley emoticons to add a softer more likeable touch.
