I cringe when I see it, is it just me?

I see it when wishing someone well on a promotion or thanking them when they retire.

Mr. Django, we were able to finish the project 40% under budget!

I guess I’m ok with that

I rarely rarely use one in any context.

Maybe “Happy Birthday!” Or something

Definitely use my exclamation points conservatively and never in business emails. Never!

Depends who you are emailing. I mirror my clients emails. If they use exclamation points then I use them. If they don’t, I don’t.

But more importantly. Why do you care?

I have to use them sometimes in order to seem happy. Otherwise, the women I work with will think I'm mad at them.

However, it'll be a cold day in hell before I use emoticons though.

Meh. I cringe way worse at people who can't type an email without resorting to some robotic lawyer speak. Saying shite like therefor and hitherto in everything

This is an actual email I received from a middle age man. I work for an O/G company and we were selling some left over casing.

It hits the trifecta...exclamation points, all caps and run-on sentences. But his check cleared so whatever...

quote:

We would like to offer $XX/ft Fob Loaded Trucks Kfor your below 60jts of pipe. If acceptable we will wire $10,000.00 deposit immediately if needed and we will get one of our QC personnel on plane ASAP to go to Cortez to perform a VISUAL on the pipe. On acceptance from the VISUAL a FULL WIRE TRANSFER of FUNDS will take place before we send trucks in for pickup.

We have a FIRM PURCHASE order on this pipe and are willing to issue FIRM PURCHASE order to you(contingent on our visual) IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

It will be MUCH APPRECIATED if you can advise within 24 hours ACCEPTANCE OF OUR OFFER so we can start moving forward. PS We are trying to make it simple so please advise if you get approval to sell more of this pipe and we will consider the balance as well!!!

I hate using exclamation marks but I do it so I don't seem like a psychopath

"congratulations on your new baby boy." just doesn't sound very genuine

I happen to think that exclamation points should be put at the end of every sentence!

You hear me?!
