So you think seeing the Rock in a movie once in a blue moon is a counter to being surrounded every day by academics who denigrate masculine things?

I don't know how true this is, but I heard that the new impossible Burger at Burger King has a high amount of estrogen in it. Whether that's true or not, I have no clue, but I am assuming this is caused by some of the shite we put in our bodies?

You said

Being a manly man is a damn crime in today's society.

The rock is celebrated everywhere he goes. Male athletes with 3% body fat are celebrated everywhere they go. Former special forces operators write books and do speaking engagements and are celebrated everywhere they go.

What crimes are these guys being accused of?

Those people direct the course of a lot of unthinking people

No, the people who think men should have to date trans people or they're hateful bigots don't represent most people, even most on the left. But they are absolutely setting the tone for those beneath them on the ideological totem pole. And unfortunately, a lot of these people work in media/academia/etc.

So the experiences of the 1% represents everyone else now? You can try to mansplain this all you want, the fact is that masculinity is denigrated in today's society, particularly in academia.

It is entertaining to see what arguments will break out in a thread.

“Mansplain”? Jesus dude, step away from the screen, go outside and talk to some actual IRL people.

Yes, there are people in academia who denigrate masculinity, but I assure you that the average person’s worldview is more effected by the content they consume, which is dominated by people like the rock, athletes, and superheroes (real or fiction) than it is by some limp dick professor in gender studies at Yale.

By the way, it’s pretty much just the social sciences, so while those idiots scream at the sky about how awful men are, the future leaders of this country are busy getting degrees in STEM and business and aren’t being inundated by that trash. The opinion of your barista with an MA in woman’s study probably isn’t going to affect you in any material way.

It's pretty predictable. This board leans right and tends to take the extreme and project it onto society as a whole. "fricking trannies are taking over man!" Salmon isn't a lefty but he rejects the kneejerk stuff, rightfully, but in response, kneejerks a little too hard himself. He ignores that while the board consensus is overdramatized, it's not without some underlying merit. The middle of the country certainly isn't obsessed with destroying masculinity, but some in pretty elite positions are, and the rest of us subconsciously adopt some of that (some of which is good, some of which isn't).

That's the general pattern.

Why would I talk to real life people like the teachers that children encounter every day? I've been told that the Rock is raising kids for us. Of course, if you think that him and other athletes influence people via media consumption, you can't ignore the rest of the media that is created for the masses. So put your pussy hat on and recognize that it's not just academia that attacks masculinity.

Actually switching to a vegan lifestyle or a vegetarian diet will boost your test. #fact

That article was anti-vegan propaganda disseminated by the Tri-State Livestock News for Big Cattle.

Impossible Burgers and soy contain phytoestrogen, not estrogen.

You want gyno you'll need to go elsewhere like anabolics.

I think that the massive popularity of The Rock illustrates how it is not a crime to manly in today's society.

If the "academics" are the ones pushing that it is wrong go be manly, then they are failing pretty spectacularly.
