yeah i think its a fricking vase built into the dash.

i can honestly say i've never seen the interior of one from the inside, just from walking past them in the parking lot.

I worked at a store near him and he had 81's stitched everywhere into the upholstery. Hey, at least he marched to the beat of his own drum.

I drive a Touareg, that's what real VW men drive.

New ones, gay.

The old school ones were legit. My grandfather had one for years. It was what my mom drove as a teenager. He kept it, and I remember riding around in it with him when I was like 10. Built like a tank and would run forever. Old stick shift too.

He also taught me, as a 12-3 year old, how to drive a stick shift in an old white S10 in a church parking lot. He was about as far from gay as a man could be. But, rest his soul, he wouldn't be caught dead in a new beetle.

Justify it? No.

But I also don't know why this is being discussed. The VW Beetle isn't marketed towards men and hasn't been for at least two decades.

Actually not true. The 2nd generation of the redesigned beetle was an attempt to appeal to men. They lowered the profile a bit and made it a little wider to make it look a little more aggressive.

That obviously worked as well as their plan to cook the emissions tests on theit diesel vehicles.

My wife's slightly deranged grandma bought a lime green Beetle and gave it to my brother-in-law after she decided she didn't want it. I felt kinda embarrassed for him but hey, at least it was a free car. My wife and I just figured her 80 year old grandma was unaware of the implications of driving a lime green Beetle, but when we asked her about it she responded with "The only people who drive those cars are queers." (In a heavy New Orleans accent)

My first new car was a super beetle. Was in high school still. That was 1973.
