It seems more likely the latter, because Alex Morgan is arguably the biggest star on the team, and she backs Rapinoe up. It probably is intimidating for the younger women coming through the ranks to speak against those two with how emboldened Rapinoe has become.
As you alluded to, Lloyd said that the culture around the USWNT has been toxic for years, and though she never named names, everyone knew who she was talking about. Hope Solo has bluntly called Rapinoe a bully, claiming that she tried to get the team to kneel with her before she ended up actually doing it.
Basically, it'll be a breath of fresh air for all of US Soccer when that fraud retires this summer.

The more she talks, the more she doesn’t know what the frick she’s talking about and I say this as a fan of Rapinoe the player. At least prime Rapinoe. And her ability to troll limo wrists about the anthem.
But that’s a stupid arse argument with no basis in fact. I can’t think of a Chapelle joke that incites violence. Comedy and satire doesn’t typically incite anything but bellyaching claims of things not being funny or tummy twisters because shite was funny as frick.
And I’m all for trans people be respected and not attacked, but they aren’t real women, Megan.

The sad part about it is that a network might not sign him to a special because of the backlash Netflix got for his last special. That was his last special with them for the contract he signed with them that was for 3 specials.
He might have to do what Andrew Shultz did for his last special. He has his team video it and released it on his site, which he charged a fee. I think it was like $12. I bought it.
Then after months of it being available on his site he then edited it to be youtube friendly.
The only downside to that is you are limited to who watches. The casual viewers will not see it, but its better than having to limit the material you can use.

It’s people like her that push trans into instigating confrontations based on pronouns; sexualizing, abusing, and mutilating kids; and ignoring biology when it fits her politics. She isn’t supporting them but using them.
Let her be the first in line to get screwed by all the penises of all the men identifying as transwomen and then suck off them all off to completion including having those “female” balls slapping all over her face.
