Just remember the same people that call these people medical experts also refer to people that work at the apple store as geniuses

I just listed multiple examples of prior virus scares that were plainly blown out of proportion, and you came back with “what script?”
How has this script compared to Covid? And Monkeypox? Nobody cared about Monkeypox

My argument is that the media has repeatedly shown it loves fear based health coverage
And again, they are quite literally doing the opposite. Yet you keep saying its a script and people are rightfully calling out the fear mongering, when literally everyone is saying its not going to be a pandemic, yet a certain demographic keeps acting like everyone is talking about a new pandemic.
This is my point that you keep avoiding.

be careful with your FEAR-MONGERING
exactly my point
You: "See, they are just snarky remarks to the script and fear mongering from the media"
The media:
quote:
There’s no evidence to suggest the Andes strain has changed to make it more infectious, Jackson said.
quote:
While experts maintain that the risk of hantavirus’ spreading widely is extremely low
quote:
“This is very different than a respiratory virus. It’s very difficult to spread.”
quote:
Large outbreaks are extremely rare.
quote:
“That’s one of the things that would limit the spread of the Andes virus,” she said
quote:
The risk to the public is very, very low at this time, but that doesn’t mean we’re letting our guard down.”

I am not avoiding the point.
You are flattening distinctions because it helps your argument. The media has earned its distrust many times over, and that is what most people are reacting to. Whether this specific virus goes anywhere is secondary.
The flippant replies from most of this website are not fear mongering. They are sarcasm, skepticism, and exhaustion with a press that has burned through its credibility. Lumping that in with the tiny number of people who may actually be panicking is just lazy.

Ok Klark. Ignore what is painfully obvious right in front of you.

Right, I see. The media manages one comparatively normal round of virus coverage, and suddenly all prior credibility issues are washed clean. Now the real villains are the people on this website responding with sarcasm and distrust. Sure.

And, I assume, all potentially eating the same rat feces infested food.
All of the cases are traced to the index case, who just did a rural road trip before boarding the boat.
And you don’t get it by eating rat feces anyway. You need to inhale it.

So it is normal? Or is it "the script"?

Don't be so dramatic. Nobody called anybody villains. Jesus.

It’s not sarcasm or distrust. It’s not being cynical.
It’s literally seeing things that aren’t there. And insisting that “they” are planning to do lockdowns when every time they get a public health official in front of a mic they reiterate that this isn’t the type of scenario for pandemic potential.
Reminds me of the fricking Q thread where everything was planned and there were hidden messages in trumps tweets. Every time a prediction was proven wrong, it was alluded to being a multidimensional chess move.

It’s funny how many posters are virology experts, talking about incubation periods and such. These posters should stick to constitutional law.
They're taking time off from their subject matter expertise in foreign policy and AI, benching 405, finishing navy seal training without breaking a sweat, and banging 500 women a year.
Cut them some slack.

Probably at least a half dozen times since COVID people would say things like "here we go again" as if reporting on viral disease outbreaks should be forbidden now.

Love how they used all caps for MUTATED lmao. Couldn’t be more sensationalist. I would say sitting next to someone on a multi hour flight qualifies as close contact

If it keeps up it’s gonna warrant a term like TDS
Lockdown Derangement Syndrome
Covid Cabin Fever
Post Lockdown Stress Disorder

Oh the best part? The case has no symptoms at the moment. No positive test (though they have sent a sample). It’s just is what’s called a contact case because he sat next to a confirmed case. And he has been in quarantine since.
So there is actually no news to report yet. They just wanted to have the headline.
What you expect from a tabloid.
