What year Accord? The variable valve timing system in most Honda engines is controlled by oil pressure. When the oil leaked out from the filter area, this system may have gotten screwed up. So when you're accelerating and the cams are opened more it's fine, but when you're cruising perhaps the system is malfunctioning. You may have a faulty VVT solenoid or VTC actuator which is causing the cams to stay partially open or shut depending on where they're stuck. Is the check engine light on?

Sounds logical, and this makes me glad I work on older cars LOL

Our alternator hummed before it went out. Oreillys can test it for you for free

the noise starts at around 30-35 mph and never gets any louder regardless of how much faster I drive.

Would lead me to believe it isn't an issue

If it makes noise when I neutral it’s not wheel bearings.

Check antifreeze levels it could be low and running a bit warm at higher RPMs causing fan clutch to engage. Or a faulty thermostat

Can you put the car on jackstands and troubleshoot in your driveway?

Has it got a turbo on it? Sometimes they can make that noise if there’s an issue.

No. This thing goes from 0-35 in a minute. Better not pull out in front of anyone while driving it.

don't think it's wheel bearings because the noise is steady and doesn't get louder the faster I go. I have no idea about the CV joints.

Could be transmission or gear differential issues

I know the wheel bearings can be an issue with the accord. Could that be it?

So it has the good ole 2.4 4 banger... I've worked on that engine in the TSX I had. One of the best Honda made, but very sensitive to oil pressure.

The fact the noise began occurring after the oil change and subsequent oil leak is concerning. I'd take her into a shop and have the variable valve timing system inspected.

Ever replace the serpentine belt? About the right time for it to need to be replaced. Might want to check the condition.

It may have already been asked, but did you check to make sure the hood latch has a good connection to the battery?

Sounds like a bad wheel bearing.

Obvious solution: Take it to the mechanic. The noise is guaranteed to stop.

A fairly simple thing to check is the radiator fans. When those electric fan motors start to wear out, they can make a variety of noises from a whine to a rumble. And they may run smooth under certain conditions, but get noisy at various speeds (due to wind resistance) or other situations.
Just an idea.
