Meat plants to remain open under defense production act

I was kind of hoping there would be a huge meat shortage and spike in prices so that consumers would get their wallets nailed, thus increasing support for opening things up.
The karens of the world and their male counterparts need to be absolutely gutted financially.

(as usual) I have a plan.
The military should gather up all of the "I have a right to not shelter in place" protesters and force the to work in the slaughter houses.
I did my time in 1971 (six months on the lard line and then (hog) kill floor at Jackson Packing Co.) Even loaded dried blood on the tank line.
Still love Vienna Sausage and Bologna. Anyone who wants them can have my chitterlings. The pig used them to transport pig sh^t out his rear end.

I'm in the food industry and saw a report today from the industry that 30% of the beef and 50% of the pork processing capacity has been reduced. If a plant isn't offline, most are at reduced capacity. I believe there will be pockets of shortages but not widespread. I'm pretty sure Tyson took out that ad in the NYT to make Trump do this. Basically not make these companies liable for issues if they stay open.

Might not add much to conversation, but I heard a governor say the problem with infection was not AT the plants, but rather 15 living in one house, and 8 riding in a car back and forth.

Seems to me they could hire any number of temp workers from people laid off while their regular employees recover.

Just to let you know, my in-laws, who bought 300 rolls of toilet paper to help bring on the TP panic, have now bought an extra freezer and now are stocking up on meats, of which, once restaurants open up , even at 50%, they'll eat at home maybe twice a week.
