Instead of the standard Mr. or Mrs. in emails.
I have a couple of professors that demanded you to address them as “Doctor”

Insecure much...

ETA: I can understand in the classroom or academic settings, but to be as petty as to simply not respond to emails unless students address them as “Doctor” in the heading is ridiculous. Didn’t even happen to me, but a girl I have a class with.

I identify as a doctor.

Also as a knight.

Respect my titles.

It’s Sir Doctor.

If I had to write to a professor, it's usually to suck up and get something. I'll put Dr.

sr. year of highschool we got a new physics teacher. he had a doctorate and REFUSED to acknowledge you if you didn't call him Dr. he also didn't teach, instead just having a few examples worked out on the board when you walked in. if you wanted any help understanding the work you had to go to him during office hours, which was the hour before and after school, so those who rode the bus were fricked.

roughly 80% failed his class. he lasted all of 1 year. frick those pretentious douchelords.

You should address your professors as "Doctor..." as it relates to school.

I had a freakin' professor in this history/art type class who literally wouldn't acknowledge you if you didn't call her doctor.

This lady spent about 5 minutes EVERY class showing us her 8 pugs. But goddammit, you better not forget to call her doctor!

I never met any professor that demanded that you call them Dr.

But if they introduced themselves as such then I'd address them that way. Don't see the problem.

If you are speaking of in the academia setting you are t-totally suppose to call the Doctor. A PhD is a higher standard of academia than a Doctorate, no matter what type of doctorate it is.
