Mazda CX-5...Any of you have experience owning a Mazda?

In the market to buy a new car and yesterday looked at a Mazda CX-5, and it’s a good looking car, especially the interior.
Any thoughts appreciated.

My wife has the 2025 cx-90 and loves it.
I thought it was higher quality than the Toyota and subaru we looked at.

People I know who drive them really like them. Reliability is higher than average.
The new 2026 just got a big interior redesign. The one complaint I always heard was that the infotainment screen was small and clunky, but they fixed that issue with a much larger touchscreen in the 2026 model.
However, there are no physical buttons for HVAC; everything is activated through the large touchscreen

I bought a brand new Mazda 3 back in 2006 and owned it for about 15 years. It was a great car and never gave me any problems. I only traded it in because my wife wanted a new car so I inherited the car she was driving.

My wife has a 2020 Mazda 6 with a turbo that moves well with good mileage. The pluses include a non-CVT transmission, timing chain as opposed to a belt and only 1 warranty issue with the windshield washer pump. The CX-5 may have similar build specs.

I don’t own, nor want a Mazda, but their Soul Red Crystal paint color is beautiful.

We own a 19 CX-9. It's a good vehicle I'd say. Only thing I don't care for is the front suspension. Everything else is quality IMO

CX-5 and CX-50 are both good cars. I think the CX-50 looks a little better. But both are lookers.
Mazda’s are awesome but they have a habit of designing footwells that are a little narrower than I like. My right knee always press against the center stack and console when driving and it can be uncomfortable for long trips. That’s mostly a CX-90 frustration. I still like that car too.

Everyone I know with a Mazda loves theirs. No reliability issues as of late (since Mazda divorced from Ford).
The only complaints I've heard were related to the local Mazda dealership here, but not the vehicles themselves.

My wife has a 2013 Mazda CX-9, it’s time for an upgrade but it’s been an awesome vehicle. Does anyone have any experience with the new CX-90?

I know Jeremy Clarkson drove one through the Middle East and it held up.

Have you considered an ice cream truck?

Love my CX-9. Zoom! Zoom! 2017, have had no issues.

For the most part, a great car. Haven't had too many issues, the Parreti dealership in Metairie is great if you're in New Orleans, drives smoothly, and gets good gas mileage.
The cons are it takes longer than you would think to accelerate and DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, get the built-in navigation. The stupid navigation continually malfunctions for me to the point where it's giving my car massive issues (with the robot voice coming on unprompted and all sorts of technological issues surrounding their navigation system).

Can you please expound upon this? I’m in the market for one of these for my daughter.

Found a used 2016 Mazda6 for my son that I was really impressed with. Also got a deal in because it’s a manual. After the initial week of fear that he was going to wreck it…he’s now proficient with a manual which is a life skill.
Very tight vehicle.

Mazda 6 is the best car I've ever owned. Not a ton of miles (160k), 10 years old. Not one thing has gone wrong with it. Not even a bulb. I's a manual transmission.
I'll probably replace it with a CX-30 or Cx5 when the time comes....especially if they still have the six speed auto an naturally aspirated 2.5...they've been making that combo for a decade and it's stone reliable.
If you're looking at the brand new CX-5 they just redid it...I never like a first year revision, but if the powertrain didn't change you should be fine.
I've had a lot of cars and none have been completely defect free. This one has been. It was made in Japan...maybe that made a difference.
