The temporary furloughs for 4,700 employees include police, fire and other public safety workers.

The fantastic customer service we New Orleanians have come to expect and deserve will suffer mightily.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I kind of think it’s BS that more state and local government employees haven’t had to take furloughs. Tons of private companies have had to do it because of the shutdowns, and you can’t tell me that all of these government employees (with a few exceptions such as LDH) have maintained the same amount of workload throughout all of this.

LaToya might have fricked them royally by waiting until October, though - were government employees eligible for CARES Act unemployment benefits?

Also, by kicking the can down the road she effectively made sure all of these government services will suffer when demand DOES pick back up.

Didn't read the whole thread, so she's dumping on what the city needs in order to move on? How about her lap dogs and others?

Do the cuts include bribes, payoffs, skims, theft, misappropriation, graft, etc.?
