The speed limit is higher on the toll roads around Austin than it is on the freeways, I think it's 80 or 85. It doesn't really matter what the speed limit is, anywhere, because the Dodge crowd is going to do whatever the hell they want.
ETA: Yes, I'm rolling at close to 90 most of the time, but I also don't bump draft while I'm texting like Dodge arseholes.
At least TXDot has a theory to base their decisions on:

Studies conducted for the CTRMA showed about 85% of vehicles were driving at or below those speeds during normal driving conditions. That so-called "85th percentile method" is how the Texas Department of Transportation sets speed limits, although the method has critics.

I mean 80 is still pretty damn fast for a speed limit.
After me and the wife spent some time at the Grand Canyon and Vegas we drove to Denver and the whole way to Denver from Vegas through NV and Utah was mostly 80 as well. Some spots I was scared to go that fast especially on curves on the mountains I was shocked that they posted the speed limits that high.

It's 80 here in Idaho outside of the cities.
And I'm probably just biased because I've had the experience of hitting the 155mph speed limiter on my Infiniti G35 I had at the time while stationed in Germany. Nice little stretch of the A81 between Heilbronn and Wuerzburg that has no speed limit, and I drove it twice every weekend when I was living in Schweinfurt but my unit hadn't moved from Mannheim yet. My average cruising speed was 120.

I learned in Ireland a while ago that they don't do what America tended to do, which is ratchet down speed limits for terrain repeatedly. If you're in IRE, the speed limit says 80km/h, but if you don't recognize that you're about to go through a gap in the rocks 3 inches wider than your tiny car, you're the one that is f@cked.
It was somewhere north of Galway when I realized it. I view it as encouraging drivers to pay attention to conditions

I just drove around the island of Iceland for two weeks. There are portions unpaved - even on Highway 1 - but the paved sections are pretty good, esp considering the conditions.
Highest speedl imit is 90kph.

There are countries there with speed limits as if they had paved roads.
The old BBC series Top Gear would do multipart episodes with road trips where the roads were hypothetical even though they were on maps. Looking at that map and remembering Top Gear was a good laugh.

I can't see what color Bermuda is, but it will bring down the average.

Keep in mind this is the max. I believe that stretch where it's 85 is only like 40 miles or so, and it's a toll road
It’s 75 mph in long stretches

It's called the Grand Tour on Amazon now. I'm expanding my trip to Warsaw next year into a Central/Easter European extravaganza precisely because of some of the stuff they visited in Slovakia, Slovenia, etc.
Their scenery is balls out fantastic. Jeremy Clarkson is my spirit animal.

Toll Road 130 east of Austin...85 mph
Before they opened it up, they ran a souped up Cadillac CTS-V at 220 mph through the toll tag readers to see if they would still be able to read the toll tags on a vehicle going that speed...remarkably, they did

Limit on I-10 headed to El Paso is 80. Trooper stopped to check on us once out there when I pulled over to let wife get a phone charger out of trunk.
I asked him how fast you have to go to get pulled over. He said “We’ll stop you at 85 - already giving you 80”. Good to know

Ya, but they stay in the right lane. Polizei will ticket your arse faster than anything if you try to pull the left lane shite we see in this country.
Yes. Very true. Left lane has priority on the autobahn. They also have an extensive process that their young adults must go through in order to receive a driver's license, so they are generally very good drivers.

Camels can’t do more than 40 mph.
UAE camels must be faster since they’re colored purple for 100 mph.
Max speed limit on the E11 between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is 85 mph and minimum is 75 mph. The cameras while issue you a ticket if you’re in the left lane doing less than 75 mph.
