They knew they were fricked. If that was your "friend" or "brother", wouldn't you hang out at the hospital to see how he was?
I've always said they need to breed a culture where it is ok to call for help. Kids at that age are scared thinking they will get in trouble. Obviously I am referring to someone that didn't do anything wrong.

I had a friend brought to hospital via ambulance for too much alcohol in Mississippi. We couldn't go to hospital due to public intoxication laws.
Just an FYI: Your health insurance does not cover this.

oh I'm not sure, I haven't followed it that closely. Part of it is that I don't remember ever hearing about them doing a bit of hazing. Also, from what I've gathered the only likely cause of death is alcohol consumption? Could have been a personal decision.
Again, I don't really know and don't want to speculate. It's a terrible situation any way you look at it.

I think they finally realized, "oh shite, we got a problem" and said "well, we don't want the cops and ambulances coming to the house, let's take him to the hospital".
My line of thought should be pretty obvious. I don't think it is a conspiracy, just a typical bad decision that people make to serve their own interests first.

This is one of LSU's biggest issues. They're so damn set on throwing the book at someone and putting in a maze of bullshite policies, they ignore policies that would actually ensure the safety of students.
I know of multiple chapters that have been investigated because of completely bullshite drugging allegations. Some stupid freshman bitch gets blackout and thinks someone drugged her. The chapter is treated as guilty until proven innocent.
Hell, there was an incident just last year in which some girl stumbled into a fraternity's tailgate on the Parade Grounds and passed out due to intoxication. She had been to several places before that, but couldn't remember any of them. However, just because she stumbled into that poor chapter's tailgate, they were the ones who had to prove their innocence, despite her never even getting a drink there.
It's all bullshite. Mari the Bitch is to blame for a lot of that. She is attack first, ask questions later.

Uncle waited 45 minutes for an ambulance while having a heart attack. It pulled up, he chose to walk in and hop in the back, didn't turn the corner before he had died.
Ambulance is not always your fastest choice. Limited resources and everything else can slow it down.

so you think they dropped him off like a woman dumping a fetus?
I think the same immature stupidity that led to this kids death was at work on these guys. They hauled arse with him cause they knew he was in trouble. Got to the hospital and realized what was happening. They didn't hang out at the hospital cause they were panicking. Not surprising (to me anyway) that they didn't hang around. Its cowardly, but its not surprising.
If you are implying this was more sinister, we will have to agree to disagree. At least until more info comes out.
ETA: not sure if they hung around or left. Seems that is an assumption. Much like the way they keep alleging this was hazing. But I haven't heard confirmation that this was actually hazing or just kids being stupid in a group.

you are looking at this from the perspective of a sober person two weeks after the event- not as the person actually staring at an unconscious, unresponsive drunk kid. I doubt you'd be so collected and rational if you were actually experiencing the crisis.

Obviously, I don't know. I simply said there's more to the story and you supplied some theories would be more to the story.
My instincts are to call 911 and I'd try CPR if told to do so, but maybe they already had. Maybe 911 said it would be 10 minutes. There's more to this story, I'd bet, as I said.

No emt or FD in baton rouge is leaving the station and travelling half a mile through three lights in under 10 minutes.

Your health insurance doesn't cover what exactly?
What bumfrick town in MS is arresting people for public intoxication in the ER? Are they arresting the patient? Are they giving breathalyzers to anyone who brings in a drunk?
Just an FYI: You don't get arrested for public intoxication for just being drunk. You get arrested for being a drunk a-hole.

It's going to take you at least 5 minutes to get them in the car and get going ( if you have 2 people able to carry ), then an 8 minute drive (according to you), and another 10 minutes, from the moment you get to the hospital, before they start administering service. This is assuming that you have no traffic issues, which ambulances blow by.
EMTs are trained to jump out of the ambulance and immediately administer service depending on what you told the 911 person.

I don't even know if they left him there. But I remember reading something that made me believe that was the case, and is not uncommon in a case like this.
