We got a nectar last year. I haven't thought about it since then, so I guess that's a good sign

Get the right one (ie. Spend more) on these 3 things in life:

1. Mattress (30% of your life there)
2. Shoes (70% of your life in them)
3. Food - healthy (not gimmick) foods (100% of your life).

the mattress shopping rabbit hole is as convoluted as it is deep. tons of videos out there showing the interiors of high dollar and bed in box mattresses. some good some bad.
get a good set of springs and a layer of latex. (or memory foam if that's your thing)

we got a purple. At 12 months in I was highly recommending the mattress to people. At about 18 months I was ready to toss it in a burn pile.

Zenhaven. 100% Natural Talayla latex mattress. Not a hybrid. 100%. Hypogenic. The one I have has a firm and a softer side depending on how it’s flipped.

Have had about 10 years. Don’t notice any degradation.

Best mattress out there is a Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze. Cooling cover, you can unzip it and wash the cover. Will last well after the 10 yr warranty; probably 20 years. The technology they use is head and shoulders over any other mattress. The material they use for their foam was actually developed for use by NASA; it’s way better than memory foam, it’s all based on temperature control and pressure relief.

Stearns and Foster is a great mattress as well. All hand made and they’re probably the oldest mattress company around. They have a cooling cover on theirs as well.

Sealy has some really nice ones and their coil system is fantastic. They also have a cooling cover on many of theirs.

Adjustable beds are an option if you’re older also. I routinely sleep in zero gravity mode in mine.

Lull is a great mattress if you’re looking for something more on the firm side. I have their original and the hybrid and love both

I’ve had the original for 6-7 years and minimal degradation noted

I recently bought a Tempur Pedic and love it. Buying a mattress is a very individual thing, what works for someone won't necessarily work for everyone else. Best advice I can give you is just go to mattress stores and lay on various mattresses for around 5 minutes and see if you like how it feels. After you find one or two you like, lay on them for about 20 minutes before deciding. Keep in mind the mattresses you lay on in stores have been laid upon for a while. You buy a new one, it's gonna take a bit for it to feel like that.

One other thing is I hear Costco is one of the best as far as returning mattresses if you don't like them or have problems. If you order online, apparently they'll also pick it up, but you have to take it there if you buy in store.

Had either a Purple or Nectar that was the same. Great, bestest most fantastic mattress ever. Loved it. Then one day I swore someone swapped mattresses on me as a prank, I hated the thing. Woke up feeling like shite, back hurt, ect.

Replaced it with a Bear Elite Hybrid. I love it other than it’s “warm.” Nice in the winter. Not so nice after fricking on it in July.

I'd get a mattress from Arizona Premium Mattress. I bought one about 4 years ago and it's still very comfortable. I'd probably get a medium/firm. Don't go too soft if you're having back issues.

The Talalay Latex mattresses that they sell are super comfortable and reasonably priced for the level of quality they are. These aren't some cheapo foam mattresses that you see all over the place online. You can dial in the level of support you need too.
