I bought a Tempurpedic a few months ago and I don’t like it at all. They are pricey but I can’t get used to it. It’s too firm for me. Get one you really like. I hear sleep number is pretty good. If I can get rid of this one that’s what I’ll get

I've got a king Tuft and Needle that's been great. It's foam but it's firm.

With the way these online mattress companies work with free delivery, and 100 night trials with free pickup this really isn’t an issue anymore.
Just try a bunch out until you like one. Me and my wife tried 4 and then eventually picked the first one (a purple 4, I think they’ve renamed them tho).

I have had back pain for years. I slept on a Stearns Foster firm.
I switched last year to Temperpedic firm and it made all the difference in the world. I very seldom reach for a medicine bottle.
I also got the adjustable foundation that is like a huge lounge chair and the weightless mode is heaven. I probably paid $6500 or so and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Do your body a favor anf get a savvy rest latex foam mattress. Go to an authorized dealer where you can test it out. A king comes with two sets of three layers, one set per side. Each layer can be a variety of firmness/softness to allow you to get the right feel for each side. Plus, they have a 30 year warranty, and they are organic with a wool mattress cover. Best purchase I ever made.

Sleep Number bed with pillowtop, got the cheaper model, without the numbers about 23 years ago, 3 level back fusion surgery in 2022, no problems, great bed especially when you realize it is just a big old air bed.

Mattress in a box delivered is a no for me. You may want to look at a hybrid that has memory foam and springs, and latex. Can offer you the comfort of foam but the support of springs.

Purple Hybrid (foam and pocket coils). They've upgraded their stuff recently and have a massive catalog of new mattress, mostly adding super luxury ones. Get the Purple Restore at a minimum.
I know Rooms to Go has an older Purple Hybrid that has the 3 inch grid layer. Feels really nice and we have the 2 inch. 2 inch feels a bit firmer. Only regret was buying a queen and not a king size.
Also, the only bad thing I've heard about them is that some people cannot stand the Purple grid layer. I don't notice when I sleep. It cradles the body well.
Also, I say get the Hybrid because it feels much cooler than a traditional or foam mattress. Makes a huge difference in sleep comfort. They have 100 day trials I believe.

The sleep number bed has been great for my back. I used to be a side sleeper until we got it and now I sleep on my back all night. That being said, my wife has never liked it and she’s still a side sleeper. So when it’s time to replace this, we’ll probably get something else.

My back is bad, but not as bad as yours. I am mostly sided sleeper, and I bought the medium firmness Saatva and I am very happy with it. It's pretty firm there is not much give when I lay down on it. I would call them talk to sales people they were very helpful and I think a fairly long return policy if you did not like it.

I have a tuft and needle Mint. It’s amazing. Firm yet soft enough.

We are in week two of owning a Dreamcloud premium mattress, and love it!

Depends what you get.

I’d recommend buying through Costco if you can because of their return policy. We got the Kirkland branded mattress that is made by Sterns and Foster (medium firmness) and liked it. The wife (no pics) wanted split king so we returned it and got the Brentwood hybrid (also medium) and like it so far. You need to give them a few weeks to break in to get an idea of the long-term feel.

I’ve had chronic lower back issues for over 20 years. Purple is the best mattress I have ever owned. Most comfortable, best sleep and no back issues since I switched to Purple.
