I don't believe our property taxes are that low, and when you add in local sales taxes, fees (look at your water bill at sewer and garbage), and state sales tax and state income taxes, and the gas taxes we pay; I don't think EBR Parish is getting off cheap.
I think when you add everything up, we in EBR are taxed pretty high. We also are one of the most leveraged Parishes/counties in the nation right now.

There's no need for a police officer to have a college degree but I also don't think a teacher needs a college degree for grades below high school

We wouldn't know because we haven't seen any. EBRPSS has failed for decades to provide education. They sure as frick like to take our money to fail, though. That probably goes a long way toward explaining why we give "educators" such a hard time.

Why should property owners have to pay extra taxes to police the crime infested neighborhoods that do not pay taxes cause they don't own??
What we should do is base the sales tax by crime rate per each neighborhood ....and make the criminals pay to police themselves and/or incent them to stop committing crime.

I support the police but I will vote no on any property tax. It's the absolute worst form of taxation.
