Twitter video of some of the aftermath. (Person who recorded this video claims there are 100+ vehicles involved in the accident.)

UPDATE: Dallas Morning News reports 6 deaths from the pile-up. They are also reporting that there were 133 vehicles involved.

Dallas Morning News article

The incident shuttered both northbound and southbound traffic on I-35 near Northside Drive, north of downtown.[/quote]

Here is video of the crash as it is happening. You can see that there appears to be ice on the road. Sorry, it is a Facebook video.

That's what you call mayhem I guess. Probably bad fog, but I still don't see how things get that fricked up. You need to keep your distance on the interstate and if you can't see out in front of you, slow down or pull off.

wow that's insane, honestly looks like BR on i10 on Sunday around brunch time.

But forreal that is terrifying. For all the regulation and control over every aspect of life, it seems like the highways are the last frontier where you never know who is operating the vehicle next to you.

Didn't look like it.

Not surprised in the least. People in the DFW metroplex drive like maniacs. 80 mph and eight feet from car to car. shite was bound to happen.

Multiple fatalities, number not confirmed but they expect it to grow.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory for some light freezing rain or freezing drizzle.

We got some freezing rain last night and some low fog that froze on impact but the roads were treated. No idea of the cause but I guess there could have been patchy ice.
