Such BS. They probably mentioned the word Islam in a class along with other religions and this patriot hero wannabe parent went all bonkers.

When I agree with Bill Maher on something it's scary, saying that, as a Christian, I agree with Bill on his views of Islam. If you don't wanna be a Christian, I'd be more inclined to pray for you, than kill you. It's in the Quran, in black and white.

the school taught that “Most Muslims’ faith is stronger than the average Christian.”

That is almost certainly true, FWIW.

It's also true that Muslims blow people up virtually every day and are responsible for the overwhelming majority of terrorism across the globe. Did the school inform the students of this fact as well? No, instead they taught this....

quote:

They also instructed students that Islam is a peaceful religion and they treated conquered nations with kindness and respect.

On a side note, I’m sure there are plenty of Syrian and Iraqi Christians who would love to weigh in on that classroom lesson.

The school also served as apologists for the Islamic faith, according to a hand out titled, “Islam Today.”

“Nowhere in the Koran does it say you will go to paradise if you martyr yourself with a suicide bomb,” the handout stated. “Important: The majority of Muslims do not live this way.”

The school also instructed students on jihad “a holy war waged on behalf of Islam as a religious duty; a personal struggle in devotion to Islam especially involving spiritual discipline.”

So why claim that most Muslim's "faith" is stronger than that of Christians while downplaying the fact they slaughter thousands every year in the name of their religion? If that's not pushing propaganda then I don' know what is.

According to the article:

"The Shahada is the Islamic Creed, “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

The Thomas More Law Center said that for non-Muslims, reciting the statement is sufficient to convert one to Islam."

Does this mean that I just converted to Islam because I read that line in the article???

Sarcasm intended. That author of that article isn't a journalist. I can't believe a single word of an article published in the FoxNewsOpinion that was written by someone whose writing style shows a clear bias.

You can study these religions, it's beliefs, etc. while still respecting the separation of church and state in public settings.
Religion is not allowed in public schools, period.

Maryland is one of the most screwed up states in the country. Nothing good has come out of that place since Cal Ripken, Jr.

It is perfectly acceptable to study these religions within the educational context of a history class. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

To study the Middle East while not studying Islam and how it has impacted the region would be like studying the American Revolution while omitting George Washington.

The quotes from the article could certainly be biased but does it sound to you like they were discussing Islam's historical impact on the region?

Who knows what really was going on in the classroom. Upset parents tend to exaggerate big time.

I agree with that 100%, unless we know exactly went down it's hard to even discuss.

I agree with studying all the major religions and how they've played a role in shaping our world. You can't teach world history without teaching the role religion has played.

But if a school is promoting one religion over another, they've cross the line from teaching to promoting. I don't care if they were promoting Christianity over Islam, it's still not the school's place to do so.

I agree. If I ever decide to contribute to the overpopulation problem and believe in archaic practices like marriage and/or procreating. The first time I hear about my kids having to learn about religion in school, I'll immediately take them and send them to a nice private freethought school.

What did the parents do that's ridiculous?
Making the leap from poor teaching to "indoctrination and conversion." If true, the school was wrong, but it's not enough evidence to jump to their conclusions.

Todd Starnes is a well-known hack. He's probably the worst I've come across at Fox News.

thousands of schools could be sued for "forcing students to convert to Christianity" everyday

and half this board would defend the schools
