thousands of schools could be sued for "forcing students to convert to Christianity" everyday

How so?

and half this board would defend the schools

I'm a Christian but would not defend it. It's not the school's place to promote any religion.

Surveys have probably confirmed that objectively. And there aren't too many Christians willing to strap on a C-4 vest in the name of Jesus.

It seems odd that we would want to keep our children in the dark about the biggest challenge now facing Western civilization. Our ignorance of other cultures seems to be a badge of pride for many people.

I attended one. There were no prayers (though there was a moment of silence after the pledge of allegiance and before the morning announcements). Also, we very much studied the theory of evolution. The only knock against it I ever saw was that the first paragraph of the section stated the stuff about being a theory and that some religions believe that it didn't happen. The teacher never once even acknowledged that the paragraph was there.

don't be obtuse

just like I doubt the school forced these kids to do anything, nobody "forces" kids to say a christian prayer, but it is heavily pushed

Based in the details presented the school and the parents who are suing both look ridiculous.

Agreed. The parents are distorting much of what I read in those exhibits still, the school needs to stay well away from that stuff whenever possible.

Who knows what really was going on in the classroom. Upset parents tend to exaggerate big time.

The reality is that it's probably some truth to both sides; however, I am confused as to why this board seems to be giving the "benefit of the doubt" to the religion of Islam - have they earned that benefit?

It doesn't say kill non Christians either, whereas in the Quran it says kill all infidels. Infidel= non Muslim

Fun fact:Jesus was the Prince of Peace so obviously, that during his life on Earth there are no accounts of any wars happening during that time period. (0 BC - 33 AD)
Probably just a coincidence though right.

View the war records of Earth while Muhammad was alive, for fun of course.

Still waiting to see link about a rural public school, or any public school for that matter, forcing students to say a Christian prayer.

Not only does the bible preach killing, it compels to kill those who worship others.
quote:

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

quote:

Deuteronomy 13:
6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death.
