The most important thing they can do in a time like this is get vaccinated.
So I’ve been told.

That rotation can be seen on tilt 4 at ~5,500ft.

The "Winter" part of that storm comes later.

Really unusual to be happening on the plains instead of the mountains.
About four years ago I accidentally ignited a small area in a field in Utah. There was nothing but short grass (6”) within 200 feet. I could not put it out, and it started spreading rapidly. I had my wife call the fire department and they got it out quickly.
Out there it is so dry that you don’t need any wood. The dead matted grass is like gasoline.

I live in Boulder and hoping that they can contain the fire, but not looking good at all especially for those in Superior, Louisville and Broomfield. Thankfully, we're supposed to get snow tomorrow which should help. So sad that so many people are going to lose their homes.

Is there a reason they haven’t gotten snow. Most of the Rockies and west coast just got their biggest December snow pack in 50 years
All the moisture has been squeezed out over the mountains. They've been getting dry winds as lows eject. This will be the first time they get a decent snow.

I live about 35 miles north, but work right in the heart of this fire. I didn’t go in today, but being on the third floor facing the flatirons my cubicle would’ve been a front row seat.
We haven’t had moisture in months, the grass out on the Flats is incredibly dry and the winds have been incredible.
90-100mph winds out on the flats have been common the past couple of weeks.
We’re expecting snow tomorrow-Sat so that will help. But the fires are into the neighborhoods now and many people are losing their homes. Many areas I go out to for lunch are gone already. These winds make it so hard for fire crews to contain it.

There’s no steady wind and barely any gust in Denver.

A big part of the problem with wildfires out West that isn't mentioned often is the types of grass out there now.
Alot of non-native grass species have been brought into the country over the years and allowed to get a foothold in large areas. They grow faster and thicker than native grasses, and they can handle drought a little better. The biggest issue with those grasses, though, is how they die. Most native grasses won't die and become dead standing vegetation. They wilt when they die and decompose quicker than the non-native species. When certain imported grasses die, they turn brown and become a widespread fuel source for wildfires.

Here you go about Chinook winds...
There were times when I lived in Boulder and Westminster when I laid in bed expecting the roof to lift off because the winds were making so much noise.
