Fake tree 100%.

I was raised a real tree snob, and do still love going to the tree farm to pick out a tree.

However, there's not way I'll ever go back to mess and work of having a real tree.

this is my life so fake is my only option

I am not an OT baller so we have the home depot after christmas clearance special. I have a very skinny tree because I have a very small house.

We have 3 (1 for the living room, 1 for the foyer, and 1 for the office) 9-foot Balsam Hill trees for inside the house and we typically get 3 (2 for the front porch and 1 for the patio) real trees for outside.

The Balsam Hill trees are worth every penny.

The only thing about prelit artificial trees that bugs me is when a string of those prelit lights won’t light anymore. Just try to figure out why, when the extra bulbs they include do nothing to fix the unknown problem.

Following because the wife finally caved last night and said she wanted to move to an artificial tree. We've never had one so will be in the market soon.

We went in the opposite direction. As a kid we had plenty of real trees. Since I've been married, we always had a fake tree. Last year I talked her into a real tree and we won't be going back to fake for the foreseeable future.

My fourth point of concern when I become dictator:

-On the sale, purchase, and display of Christmas decorations:

- No store, primary or secondary retail, online or other entity, may offer for purchase any Christmas decorations of any kind prior to October first.
- No individual may purchase any new or used Christmas items of any kind prior to October first.
- No person, business, or other entity may decorate any building (outside or in), yard, or other structure with Christmas decorations prior to the day following Thanksgiving day.
- No Christmas decorations of any kind may be left up beyond the second day of the new year

- Failure to follow these laws regarding sale will result in initial fines, jail for further infractions, and the ultimate closure and destruction of the offending retail business.

- Failure to follow these laws as a consumer will result in initial fines and/or jail time, and ultimately the destruction of offending property following multiple infractions.

More new laws regarding the playing of Christmas music and the sale of egg nog will be forthcoming.

Bought a nice fake tree last year because the prices on reals were too high for the shitty trees I was seeing. It was so easy and so nice, I’ll never go back.

I want a fake tree. One of those nice ones with the fiberoptic and LED lights. But my wife and daughter want a real tree every year. A real tree than neither of them have to find, buy, and take care of.

We have a 12' Balsam Hill tree that we bought about 5 years ago. It is great. Roll it out, flip it over, plug it in, done.

Grab a $150-$200 real tree this year and wait to shop for the fake ones early as shite next year?

Right after Christmas is the best time to shop for a tree. That’s when you will get the biggest discounts

The wife got a Grow and Stow (or something like that) a few years back and it’s been great. You put the top on, hit a remote and it “grows” taller and fuller. It’s the ultimate in lazy but makes it really easy if smaller kids are helping decorate. They can decorate the top 1/3 and then you can hit the button to expand it. Pre-lit with led lights that do color/white and various patterns.
I’ve never been a huge fake tree fan but it looks pretty decent. Makes setup and takedown a very quick process. No adjusting branches to make it look right, no fighting with multiple sections, stands, etc.
The only downside is since there’s not many parts it does take more storage space than most. And it’s heavier than most but is on wheels which also makes it nice if you’re putting it in a corner or something. You can decorate and roll it into place.

I bought my first fake tree 3 years ago in January and I was like you - would’ve never considered getting a fake one.

Best decision ever and no tree sap

I buy lights every year right after Christmas when they put them on sale.

I buy a live tree, put the lights on it and when Christmas is over my wife takes all the ornaments off and I put the tree with lights on it at the street.

I had started doing that years ago, prior to LED lights and got frustrated at strands not working or going out after tree was decorated.
