And how dare the Marines take offense to how they were flying the flag of our nation to show disrespect to it. They can excercise that right to fly it like that, as long as the people defending it can excercise their rights to take offense and protest how they're flying it.

They were doing more than just taking offense . They actually stole the flag too.

" I fought for your right to exercise free speech. How dare you exercise that right. I am going to chase you down and probably assault you ."

video right now, but if they took the flag by force then they weren't exercising their rights. But I agree that it's okay to complain about it. No doubt about that.

No, they didn't take it by force. They ran up and we're gonna snatch it out of their hands but the protestors dropped it and they picked it up and walked off.

Those douchebags did a bit more than taking offense and protesting.

Oh boo fricking hoo. They didn't take it by force, they didn't beat their asses, they didn't physically harm the people on the bike.

Um.

I hate situations that involve disrespecting the flag or the symbols of this country with a passion.

But it seems kinda silly to use the old arguments of armed forces fighting and dying to protect the freedom of America in a video where the Marine subject clearly says "I don't give a frick about his civil liberties."

I am a veteran. Those people have the right to fly their flag how they want. My service doesn't give me the right to hold everyone to my standards.

well said.

why everyone gets hot and bothered by flags and words and music is beyond me. There are more important things to worry about.

Like frick it doesn't. Civilians' rights end where veterans' feelings start getting hurt.

Protest by stealing it. Last time I checked, stealing wasn't a valid form of protest.

To be fair, you can ride around LA and see people with stickers on their vehicle with the flag upside. The first time I saw it I thought it was a mistake. Now I think it's a trend.

I'm fine with them having the right to do that. But don't get all fricking pissed off that people take offense to blatant disrespect to the flag.

They may have a right to fly the flag upside down, but that doesn't mean it's in good taste. Honestly, it is almost provocation in my eyes. If you are partaking in blatant acts of offending, don't be upset when someone reacts to said act. That goes for acts against our country, veterans, against any race or gender, etc.

Doesn't that mean distress? Also it hit the ground because of that guy.

Flying the flag upside down is disrespectful, but well within their rights as Americans. Those freedoms may be annoying or piss you off at times, but they are there for a reason.

Yet this guy here is supposedly a patriot.

I find this much more offensive in every possible way.

So is a Tyler Perry movie. I'm not gonna chase someone down for it, even if they're projecting out of the back of a vehicle. I'd probably ignore it and not assault anyone because I'm not a psychopath.

Protesters and the Marines were all douche bags in that video.

You two are a couple of dumb-asses who are merely demonstrating your completely superficial understanding of why military service exists.

On the other hand, you're probably too cowardly to volunteer your lives for whatever beliefs you may espouse and simply leave that to others. Typical bourgeoisie BS.

You don't have to understand it or even support or agree with it. But this is a free country and those people are free to be buttholes if they so choose.

The idiots were on a scooter and a Marine comes running after them and they turned quickly and he was gaining on foot so they dropped the flag in the street...

Now, personal views and beliefs aside... I totally get that it's WELL within their rights as free Americans to do and say what they want... I don't agree with it (or most things that people hide inside the 1st amendment) and while it's "technically" not "illegal"... it doesn't make it "right".

I can't wrap my head around why people are so gung-ho to stand on the Bill of Rights when it suits them and act the fool "just because they can"... it's just poking the bear for the sake of poking the bear and then not liking when they're challenged... I mean, were the Marines now just exercising their rights too?

Anyone who says, "This is fine, they're just expressing their 1st amendment rights!" is a fool...

Not exactly reductio ad absurdum, but "If they hate America so much, why don't they just leave"... there are PLENTY of "free" countries out there for them to frick with.

Obnoxiousness for the sake of obnoxiousness is absolutely idiotic. And that's all this is.
