Not at all. Merely pointing out that the greatest country in the world functioned perfectly fine without a huge gov't taxing and controlling virtually all aspects of your life. What's funny/sad is your insinuation that we are better off with gov't controlling things for us. But don't feel bad, given our nanny state reaction to the corona virus, I'd say the VAST majority of your fellow Karens feel the exact same way.

It's also ironic that you seem to be arguing for more taxes and more gov't on a product that the same gov't has for decades made illegal as part of a war on minorities and anti-gov't groups.

Anyway, looking forward to the state finally decriminalizing a plant and shrinking the prison state somewhat.

Just saw the vote is in:

LINK

quote:

The chamber approved the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act, or MORE Act, by a vote of 228-164, falling largely along party lines. Five Republicans joined most Democrats in voting for the measure. The bill removes marijuana from the federal controlled substances list. If eventually passed into law, it would not automatically make recreational marijuana legal nationwide. Individual states would still have to legalize cannabis.

fricking Republicans...... Are you for real?

You're making an awful lot of presumptions and assumptions about my views, based on . . . absolutely nothing I've posted in this thread or otherwise.

Congrats.

I gotta say, as a Republican, I just don't understand why the party's leadership is not allowing marijuana to go through.

Are these senators and house members really that naive and into themselves that they don't realize that the vast majority of Republicans, let alone Democrats, want to see marijuana legalized?

Ridiculous.

It should be a state's rights issue. Just remove it from the drugs schedules at the DEA and let the states decide for themselves.

Sounds like the philosophies of plenty of Middle Eastern countries to me. I'm good, thanks.

I hate when people make this argument. You know that most folks can do more than one thing at a time, right? It's not one or the other.

McConnell will be dumb to not hear this one. Republicans could potentially lose the House in January for ignoring this one.

Cannabis should be regulated like tomatoes. The plant should be a cheap commodity that anyone can grow, possess, consume and sell.

Never thought about that. While just a band aid, I can't see why it would be a bad experiment for at least 4 years. It's coming at the right time as well. As someone mentioned, it gives a whole different ability to banks and lending. Let's see how it plays out.

I heard Cocaine Mitch on the news saying he would never let this be put up for a vote. Why? Not enough in it for him? Opioid industry kickbacks interfering with his motivation? Stupid frick.

I don't think that's even possible. I don't think executive orders can be in violation of current federal laws.
