There’s a big difference. Alcohol, alcoholism, being drunk in public, etc. has a societal stigma. Pot smokers and their enablers are convinced that going around stoned ALL THE TIME is acceptable and they can just do their thing.
What the frick are some of you talking about?

Is your health insurance paid for by someone else?
Personal choices that increase your risks of significant health issues like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, etc should not be the burden of others. Health issues that are not self induced with drugs or alcohol, should be covered.
I have no sympathy for people that can’t control themselves and need to smoke weed recreationally. Now, if it is prescribed by a physician for an actual medical need such as for a chemo patient, that is different, but recreational use is completely different.

do only trashy people smoke weed, or does smoking weed make you trashy?
Highly highly successful people “do pot” just likely highly successful people drink alcohol
You just don’t know because they are responsible

The dope? Stay off it. Nancy Reagan was right. If you stay in school and stay off the dope, you'll probably make out okay.

Do tobacco. Its far worse than heroine. And it is a true gateway drug....very few people in their 50s today drank a beer before they smoked a cigarette and smoking pot was the third stop on their journey....

I think most except the most holy rollers that haven't had sex with anyone but their wives is over adult use.

The belief among many teens that marijuana is benign relative to other recreational drugs is in contrast to a preponderance of evidence that adolescent marijuana use is linked to psychiatric symptoms including psychosis and suicidality,[7, 8] as well cognitive impairment in learning, memory, and executive function.[7, 8] Cannabis use also results in compromised motor coordination contributing to an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions, which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in adolescents.[9]

The primary psychiatric symptoms associated with cannabis use in youth are increased risk for addiction, depressive, and psychotic symptoms. Cannabis alters endocannabinoid system function which plays a central role in modulating the neurodevelopment of reward and stress systems.

Cigar smokers universally claim smoking cigars is not risky and many actually claim its healthy because it provides them with some downtime and socializing. It may well be slightly less risky than smoking cigarettes but it ain't without any risk,

Insurance premiums are rising because of Cheetos and Oreos, not marijuana.

They don't think that maybe the people with these conditions are using weed as a relief for them instead of pharmaceuticals? I.e. weed isnt the cause, it's the effect of these conditions.
I don’t doubt there are negative side effects of a fairly strong psychotropic drug (in high concentrations/doses).
However, I would have to read these studies in detail to determine the comorbidities in play and other limits of the studies.
Unhealthy-user bias has to be incredibly strong. And how are the heart issues tracked/controlled for medium.
This latest edition of Reefer Madness has many issues.

The article you linked is a Fox News Opinion piece and the only “literature” linked and referenced in the article was the author’s book.
Zero peer-reviewed, scholarly research papers/studies were included to substantiate his claim.
He included a lot of what seems to be ‘facts’ without any literature to evidence those claims.
POS article imho.

Unhealthy habits with food should also be accounted for, but slightly different when taking a drug and smoking it. If people start smoking Cheetos and Oreos then let me know.
Also, weed is the gateway drug to Oreos and Cheetos once your munchies kick in
