I worked in Laredo and Amarillo for a few months stretch and when I realized it takes longer to fly to LRD/AMA than MSY from Dallas I put two and two together

Think he was talking about Alaska. If you look at that map it that’s essentially what you would do.

There are stretches in West Texas where there aren’t gas stations or stop lights for 100+ miles.
Me and a bud hitchhiked from Shreveport to El Paso in 1981. Once we passed Midland/Odessa, it looked and felt like we were on the moon.

The Louisiana Purchase at 828,000 sq. miles says to Alaska’s 663,000 sq. miles and Texas’ paltry 269,000 sq. miles: “Tiens ma bière!”

Took me 2 days to drive from East to west Texas borders back in 97.

And Liberals from California trying to escape what they have done to that state. It is sad to say, but in my lifetime, Texas will be the next liberal haven and will lose what all the old gas guys made it.
Sad but true.

We should divide Alaska in half and then Texas would be the 3rd largest state.

Plenty of people in El Paso want to be annexed into New Mexico.
They do know that New Mexico's Native American population have preferred status and New Mexican politicians could teach PhD courses in managing corruption.

Well that comparison is more a nuance of the shape of the state and also the long string of islands.
