I worked in Laredo and Amarillo for a few months stretch and when I realized it takes longer to fly to LRD/AMA than MSY from Dallas I put two and two together

Think he was talking about Alaska. If you look at that map it that’s essentially what you would do.

We should divide Alaska in half and then Texas would be the 3rd largest state.

Well that comparison is more a nuance of the shape of the state and also the long string of islands.
