So many private schools detract from the public system and leave the public schools with kids/parents who either don't give a shite or don't have the financial means to pay for private school,
Aren’t the private school parents still having to pay for the government school system via taxes even though they aren’t using it?
Public schools = government schools
I wish all schools were private

When you factor in the value to the equation, they are one of the best in the country. Probably up to a 27 ACT average now with a ton of National Merit honor graduates.
As of 2016 it was 28.9 average ACT score.

catholic schools in Louisianan outdated public schools by 100 yeas or more. Note an appropriate comparison

I'll be the first to admit that Louisiana's public school system is absolutely terrible.
Most of the schools are fine. Schools are ranked based on test scores. Guess which schools in Louisiana have the highest test scores.
So is it the schools or the students? I bet you can figure that out by looking at the inverse correlation of public school ranking and percentage of students in private school.

My parents sent me to public school. But then again, my district had about 1% culcha so it was all good.
I would have gone to private school if that culcha percentage would have been over 25%
I'll also add that my mom is an uber lib and would never say what I said above but would still do it.
The state of Louisiana schools is not reflective of the teachers. You cant teach the unteachable.

Oh please. Our state is damn near last in everything. Do you think our schools are different?

Wow, made it 4 pages without the typical OT answer. I'll say it then. How about you quit being poor, and it wouldn't be an issue.
ETA: this is also one of the main reasons behind the city of St. George movement. All they want to do is create a neighborhood school, but Baton Rouge won't let them because it's "muh, raciest"

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the private schools are 95% white and the Public schools are 70% black. It's an under-the-table form of segregation.

I’m not surprised Louisiana is tops in private schools, but some of those states are surprising to me. Nebraska? Wisconsin?

I feel your pain. Our son has been in private school since he was 4. Small class size and families with similar values and morals makes it a food fit for us. Our daughter has been in the magnet program since kindergarten. Her school is a blue ribbon school. The quality of teaching and amount of “culture” she’s been exposed to has trended in the wrong direction each year. She will be joining our son at the private school next year. While we don’t enjoy the extra tuition payment each month, it’s whats best for our children. We live in Baton Rouge.

Unless there were none around, I'd send my kids to private schools if I lived in other states too.

You think people send their kids to private schools because of racism?

So other people should put their kids on bad public schools, yet you admit you do not want to put your money where your mouth is and put your own kids in the public schools.
Y'all are exempt from school taxes in Louisiana if you put your kid in private school?

Surprise surprise. Private institutions are better than taxpayer funded ones. OMFG, Shocker.

Obviously the other states are jealous of our parental educational commitment. .

It’s not anything magical the private schools are doing. Private schools by definition charge tuition and keep out the poors. If private schools had to teach the poors, they’d suck too.
