The real issue is the rising cost of higher ed in the US.

There’s a big class action suit pending against Mohela right now. There have been many successful suits against several loan servicers over the last 10 years for shady sketchy behavior like I said earlier.

It is amazing to me that so many people have no idea what a liberal arts degree is. When used in this type of context they generally mean a degree in humanities. Math and science are both potential liberal arts degrees. A liberal arts degree means the education includes a wide range of subject outside the major. For example, someone that majors in chemistry at a liberal arts college will also take classes like history, English, a foreign language, poli sci, economics, fine arts, etc. Someone getting an English degree will take math, science, history, etc.
You have to realize it's plant workers and oil and gas boys that think this.

SC already ruled on this. Biden has absolutely no power or authority to forgive a governmental loan.

Forgive me if I’m misinformed but I was under the impression that the only “collections” they can impose on student loans is withholding federal tax returns, which can be subverted by adjusting the amount withheld such that you wouldn’t be entitled to a refund (which everybody should do because frick giving the government a 0% interest loan) or at worst owe a marginal amount each year. So from what I understand it’s a toothless threat

As y'all are griping "pay back your debts" the White House just announced another $50 Billion to Ukraine, that'd forgive $31k in student loan debt for 1.6 million kids
Idk why Student Loan Forgiveness is what riles the boomers up so much when there's much worse waste elsewhere with our government

Hope this shite last forever

They put everyone's in forbearance until it gets resolved

Take it out of the foreign aid pool, and pay the student debt. Here are the top recipients for U.S. foreign aid in 2024: 1. Israel - $3.3 billion 2. Jordan - $1.45 billion 3. Egypt - $1.43 billion 4. Ukraine - $774 million 5. Nigeria - $625 million 6. Mozambique - $564 million 7. Uganda - $562 million 8. Tanzania - $561 million 9. Kenya - $514 million 10. Zambia - $507 million Student Loan forgiveness is just more divisive rhetoric, pitting US Citizen against Citizen.

Will any of those loans be forgiven as some sort of new program or is he just taking credit for PSLF forgiveness that's been law for 20 years?
I am not even sure you can make PSFL qualifying payments right now, I know I can't. They switched my loans to SAVE automatically then the courts put a stop to SAVE and now I can't even make a payment to get qualifying payments towards PSLF. Their solution, they put me in forbearance with no interest and no payments, I didn't once ask for any of these changes. I'd rather be bake on PAYE or REPAYE or whatever and be making qualifying payments every month.

This is what low information looks like. There are hundreds of yall in every thread about this subject.

Finished paying mine last month, 200k+ including interest over 12 years last month.… praise the Lord. I did take advantage of the covid pause for a while but otherwise didn’t get any help

Loan. That's a fairly specific term. A contract that requires scheduled payments to cover principle and interest.
End of discussion.

The Supreme Court has already told him more than once it’s illegal

I mean you signed up and took the money. Pay it back. That's what many of us did when it was the norm.

This is a man folks.
Paid his debt.
It always feels better when you handle your business versus allowing someone else to do it. Builds character, confidence and you get respect because you didn’t put your hand out.

Trump's already taken over anyway.

We’re in almost exactly the same boat (though mine were nowhere near 200k). Now that I’ve paid mind off, I’m doubly pissed at the thought of my tax money paying off someone else’s.
