I've driven one for 20 years, aren't they an anti-theft device?

I like stick shift. The only time I get to drive one is when I rent vehicles overseas.

I love driving stick shift and i too thought it’d be fun to drive a manual overseas, until i realized that in many (most?) countries they have the steering wheel on the right side of the vehicle.. at my age, im not sure i could learn to shift thru the gears with my left hand- or at least not quickly enough or proficiently enough to enjoy my trip .

I have only ever driven stick, and that's all I will ever drive. My next three cars will be manual.

Wrong answer, JK. However, video killed the radio star.

Basically car-jacking proof these days.

You just end up replacing a ton of smashed windows since they don't know what that stick in front of the center console is once theyre inside the vehicle.

Semi trucks with automatic transmissions were invented to recruit millennials, not to retain gen xers. Who exactly is driving this trend?

Manuals really don't offer anything advantageous anymore except the experience of driving one

I mean, why the hell would anyone love driving a manual, if not for the experience ?? That’s pretty much the whole point .

I had a toter with an automated transmission back in 2009. They've been around for a while but just weren't widely sought after.

Love driving my 6 speed manual.

Same. It really is a fun driving experience. Mine stays parked most of the time so I really enjoy it when I have the chance to take it out.

You ever get stuck in a muddy hole with a standard versus automatic? I don’t think you have based off your comment.

Gen X killed the manual transmission

Dude. My Gen X arse spent 2 hours and 11 mins in the Rice University parking lot trying to teach my Gen X wife to drive a manual '92 Accord. Another 3 mins and I would've spent the next 6 months dealing with divorce lawyers. She eventually picked it up and over the next 4 years drove that car and the following 6 driving the fricking wheels off a 3 series BMW stick.

I also carry the emotional scars of driving a 3 on the tree panel van at 13 years old as my dad screamed at me from the passenger seat to stop riding the clutch.

Most of the cars in the UK are manual. Ubers and taxis drive manual for the most part. Rental cars are manual, and you have to pay more for an automatic.

I felt this in my soul

Except it was in a fox body mustang with a spec stage 3 clutch.

I get that.. but very few people wax nostalgic or ‘love’ manuals b/c of saving a few pennies on gas.. they love them because of the driving experience .
