Especially if louisiana were the only cannabis legal state in the gulf region.

Easily. Tourism would skyrocket.

This just goes to show the lethality of the marijuana and its dangerousness as a gateway drugs to things like synthetic marijuana.

I'm willing to bet that more people have died in the past year from smoking marijuana and things similar to the plant in nature such as spice and k2 etc than have died in the entire Syrian Civil War.

We need to get this Devils grass off the streets and save our communities before all of our children are either dead or living like Zombies like the entire state of Colorado...have you heard the news from the place? Complete anarchy!

Anyone caught with marijuana, synthetic or regular, deserves 10 years in prison.

Had to get in the overly Catholic, uneducated, backwoods, swamp trash point of view in this thread.

Can you imagine the cash that state-sanctioned MJ bars in the Quarter would pull down from tourists?

The legislators act like people would smoke a bowl, strip naked, run through the streets and begin murdering babies. As if unlimited alcohol is somehow different.

Just got a text from someone on the Northshore ref this incident. Two other kids went to the hospital and one is still there from this.

Weed might clean up the French Quarter, if anything.

I blame cops too. They love having as many reasons as possible for putting people in jail.

Don't they just keep changing the formula to get around bans?

Used to. Law changes ended that. But still alot of people are selling it illegally especially shady convenient stores.

Blame the Sheriff and DA lobbies in Louisiana. Unfortunately they yield a ton of influence (aka bribe money) on this issue. Small strides are being made though. In fact the NOLA City Council votes Thursday on an ordinance that decriminalizes possession of small amounts. Penalties would be confiscation and a fine of $100 or less.

One substance makes you make irrational decisions, fight people, vomit, feel terrible in the morning, damage your liver, lead to automobile accidents, crippling addiction, death, accidents, suffering, and pain.

One substance makes you eat Cheetos and giggle non stop on the couch watching family guy.

One can kill you. One can not.

One is legal. One is not.

To argue FOR the illegality of marijuana immediately makes you seem uneducated in today's world.

It is one of the issues I as some one who doesn't identify as republican or democrat will judge someone vehement for based on their stance on the issue.

The people spending the most money to lobby against legalization are:

Police unions
Prison guard unions
Big Pharma
Alcohol manufactures

not sure that would readily fix this situation. weed still wouldn't be legal for teens if was legal.

Okay but we'd be dealing with something similar to alcohol - instead of being forced to purchase an unsafe alternative to get their high, they'd get their older brother to pass them legit weed.

Or they could just make actual weed legally available.
those goober we have in our legislature would never allow that to happen - Colo laughing their arse off while raking in those tax dollars.

Absolutely. What I can't stand is how all the cops keep writing bills, voting on them as a group and then getting the Governor to sign them into law just so they can run out and enforce them. I wish that our system allowed for the citizens to vote and elect representatives (we could call them Congressmen and Senators) and THOSE folks would be the ones to set the laws. Then the cops would just be stuck enforcing the laws that our reps created. Now that would be the way to do it.

There are dozens of videos on youtube of people reacting to it. They should show those clips to kids in highschool as a warning.
