The sneaky part was he would just say "Publishers" to intentionally conflate them in the audience's mind. I think this means we can give the Mandela people a pass on this one.

Exactly.

You remember Publisher's Clearing House.
You remember Ed McMahon.
You don't remember American Family Publishing.

So you assume Ed McMahon worked with Publisher's Clearing House.

In this clip from Rosanne, Ed is holding a huge check telling her she won the prize. If he never did that for real then it makes no sense.

People unilaterally agree he was on PCH commercials.

I thought so too, but it looks like we're all wrong. Ed himself says he never worked for PCH here: LINK

In case you're wondering, he worked for American Family Publishing which was a rival. They did the checks to the door just like PCH. I think they even intentionally tried to look like PCH.

Ed McMahon on The Daily Show in 1999 explaining he was not affiliated with PCH but with their rival, AFP

This is just a case of people misidentifying the company; he worked for the exact type of company doing the exact same thing people remember. Just a different name because people don’t remember there being a competitor

It’s not really similar to the Sinbad genie where there was no movie apparently

Craziest one I've heard is a lot of people (including myself) thought that Rosie O'Donnell was in A League of Their Own but it was actually a young John Goodman.

What’s the name of it? I’ve seen that video but pretty sure he gave an interview denying it

What company made stovetop stuffing?

I would've bet my right arm it was Stouffers.

Can someone explain this 2 timeline stuff y’all are talking about?
Sure. People who can't accurately recall the past had to invent a supernatural phenomenon to try to explain their ignorance rather than simply accept that they are wrong.

The one that gets me is C-3PO having a silver leg. I just don’t remember that being the case.

That is pretty funny though that a company spent money to get Ed McMahon as their spokesman, and everyone thinks he was the spokesman for your rival, and nobody even remembers your company

Fruit of The Loom had no cornucopia in the logo as well. I know this for a fact because my sister and my entire mom's side of the family worked for them.

You do realize that was a joke right? Look how old Sinbad is in that thing. And you can see all the other Mandela Effect's(kit-kat, Berenstain Bears, Fruit Loops, etc) in the video as well.

I'm aware. But it satisfies my childhood memory that there really is a video of Sinbad as a genie now.
