I thought a man stood of a good chance until I saw a “Cops” episode when it first st came out, a man who was dropping cops left and right until the they turned the dog loose

Dog ran up, the man swung, and the dog caught his fist and snatched him to death the ground and chewed on him until the handler stopped him. Duded gets up and starts whipping cops again until they turn the dog loose again. This time the guy tries to kick the dog. The dog catches his foot and back to his he ground he goes.

When done the dog had the guy down to his underwear with puncture wounds in an ankle, both knees, and an elbow.

I say bullshite. Kangal, Tibetan Mastiff, and even a German Shepherd win in a fight to the death against a physically fit human male.

Unarmed... It's about how much pain you're willing to take.

kangal

Mine and my bulldog got into it a few years ago, the kangal sank his canines into my calf as I broke them apart. When he let go, I was beating him against the ceiling of the porch

Had he not let go, not a damned thing I could have really done about it.

Men would nine out of 10 times

Which is why we are where we are and dogs are where they are.

People always say, that dog would hurt you bad, you’re crazy. Yes it would, I might even end up in the hospital, but the dog would be dead. Opposable thumbs are a huge difference maker.

There’s a subconscious feeling to not hurt the dog, in men’s minds, I believe.

If it’s truly life or death, the dog is going to kill your kid, your wife, your dog then you don’t need to be trained in fighting. Get a hold of the head, break a leg, fingers in eyeballs. Able bodied male 100% of the time.

“ I see red” won’t work against a trained human fighter but it will against a dog.

As a vet I have seen first hand when a dog latches on to someone you dang near have to kill the dog to get them off depending on the breed. What’s scary is how popular some of the bigger more aggressive breeds like Cane Corso are getting. Multiple vets including myself carry a pocket knife because if you are in a situation where one of them or another large aggressive dog has you cornered you are gonna need it

Any average male thinking they would win a fight to the death with 100% of dog breeds isn't being honest with themselves.

There are some crazy large dog breeds out there that look like they spend half their day everyday lifting weights and drinking protein shakes

Depends on the man. There are plenty of “me “ I see around these days that would lose a fight to a house cat

100%. Cats are too quick for the average Joe. And a cat's claws would just shred you compared to a dog locking down on an arm or something.

We wouldn’t have police dogs if men could defeat them. There are lots of breeds that could take down even the strongest and best fighters.

Most people are too out of shape to fight a dog. 90% would have a heart attack after 60 seconds.
The most physically fit person would have a shot.

the thumbs aren’t going to save you against the larger and stronger breeds.

there is a point where the breed is too big and strong for man to handle.

are we counting Wolf as a “breed”?
because without a gun, man stands no chance.

You obviously didn't see The Gray with Liam Neeson. All a baw has to do is break some of those little liquor bottles you get on a plane and duct tape them to his fists and the wolf is dispatched with the quickness.

Sorry for the spoiler.

Depends on the breed and the parameters put on the fight.

Can the human use a stick or rock? Using tools is our biggest evolutionary advantage. But if you put them in a room with just 4 smooth walls, it will be a tougher time for the human. It’s probably 50/50 or less. Most canines seemingly go for the throats I guess out of instinct, so keeping them away from your neck is obviously objective #1. Aside from that they will drag you down using one your limbs, so if you can work your hand into it’s mouth and then push your fist down it’s throat you could choke it to death. Your hand/arm will need a ton of stitches, but thinking you’re getting out of that fight unscathed is probably wishful thinking. On the off chance that you can outmaneuver a fast, more agile creature the I suppose you could try grab them by the back scruff and slam them repeatedly into the ground, but that’s a very big ask for the average man if you’re talking about a 100+ pound mastiff.

The Caucasian Mountain Shepherd is 6 feet tall standing on its hind legs. It is very aggressive and said to have the same stopping power as a .45.

I would get in a ring with a German Shepherd, and after the initial hand/paw shake, I would get in a defensive posture, carefully circling the ring for many years, until my worthy opponent developed a nasty case of canine hip dysplasia. When the pain became unbearable for him, I would then distract him by producing his favorite squeaky toy. It is at this precisely this time that I would make my move...

My family has had dogs from pugs to great danes and I've always felt I could take them if needed especially if it had a collar. After owning an Anatolian/Pyrenees I've about changed my mind. He towered over me when he stood up and was fearless.
Cane Corsos, Mastiffs, Central Asian types should be respected.

What about an average sized man and Tibetan Mastiff versus a grizzly bear?
