This is what every professional troll hopes happens to them: overreaction and payment.

The shooting at Iowa's Perry High School left two people dead and six others injured in January 2025, CBS affiliate WTVF reported. But some misinterpreted the meme as a threat against Perry County High School, located in Linden, Tennessee, where sheriff's deputies later took Bushart into custody. Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems told news outlets that most of Bushart's "hate memes" were lawful free speech, but residents were alarmed by the school shooting post, fearing Bushart was threatening the local school. However, Weems said he knew the meme referred to a school in Iowa. "Investigators believe Bushart was fully aware of the fear his post would cause and intentionally sought to create hysteria within the community," Weems said in a statement to The Tennessean last year.

Didn’t Trump just set aside something like a billion dollars to pay people that were arrested for their political ideology?

I don’t think this is what he had in mind!

outrageous that he was arrested in the first place. The men responsible for that should be fired. They derailed a man’s life and liberty and cost the taxpayers big money

Arrested? No.

I appreciate the fact that he revealed himself to be the demon that he is. He shouldn't be arrested for it.

I agree they should never arrest Trump for tweeting "We Need To Get Over It."

Facing repercussions in public and at your job is one thing, the government coming down on free speech is entirely different. He has a right to be a piece of shite without fear of repercussions from the government. Those protections do not extend to the private world, however.
Agreed. I also think I’d take trade 37 days of my life for $835,000 and missing a graduation. Graduation’s suck, lets be honest.

He said what he is accused of saying.
The state proceeded legally.

He ELECTIVELY spent 37 days behind bars because he chose to not make bail. The settlement is YOUR money, your taxpayer money. Pay him what bail would have cost. Period.

The 61-year-old retired police officer spent 37 days behind bars before authorities dropped the felony charge against him in October.

During his time in jail, Bushart lost his postretirement job and missed his wedding anniversary and the birth of his granddaughter

A fricking felony?? What grounds were they charging him with a felony on? That is insanity and an egregious overstep. That some totalitarian UK type bullshite.

I can’t stand frivolous lawsuits. This isn’t one of those and I’m glad he got a big settlement for that bullshite.

Should there be a charge? No

People have got to stop knee jerking things and allowing emotions to over ride their common sense

Always humorous to see the "small gov conservatives" support totalitarian fascist gov conduct
