Yeah, Holly Springs is rough. If you have an ounce of sense, you drive 20 minutes into Oxford or Southaven for any type nighttime activity. And if you're one of the few white people in that area, you don't even give it a second thought.

Anyone who pretends that there are zero words, phrases, or sentences that would ever lead them to throw fists (particularly while drunk in a bar) is a liar.
Words are not violence, but they are not simply sounds in the breeze. They convey thoughts and beliefs and ideas, some of which many would like to strongly deter.
If you happen to be dumb enough to say such things in front of those particular people, do not be surprised if you end up naked and bruised in the parking lot.
We ALL know that if the races were reversed and this event took place at The Cub in Shreveport and a drunk black man took a beating for racist comments it would be celebrated here.
Sure, the news stories would be VASTLY different (I’m not defending the MSM), but that’s not what is largely being discussed.
Words should largely not be policed by the government, but they do carry weight and worldly consequences.

So he went in clearly out of his mind and instead of someone saying "look, this dude is obviously not thinking rational. Get him out and don't let him back in, I am going to call the police and let them handle it" they beat his arse, pour beer on him, etc all because they will not let that word evolve.

Were the people in the OP college students at a college bar? Comparing to a scene where drunks get into fights with other drunks for some very dumb reasons even before someone using whatever word is blanked out in your comment is a poor comparison if they weren’t students.
I am still not sure the stripped naked, beaten with poles, or as much damage after the person is down would occur. As others have mentioned this guy likely should have been examined for rape by either sense of the word pole which is also not something I would expect to think about as even a remote possibility in a typical college bar fight.

I think what a lot of people are missing here is that he wasn't tossing out racial pejoratives randomly, he was doing it on purpose to incite a reaction or because he believed he was Billy-Bob Badass enough that he could whip anyone who didn't like it.

And from the way the police describe it, this seems to be a dangerous bar even by Holly Springs standards, that's had a number of legal incidents in just 3 months of being open.
I don't understand why a white guy would go to the bar at all, let alone go in there and repeatedly call everybody the n word.
